I loveee my 8x10 area rug. I purchased the Ivory rug and was Pleasantly surprised at the quality of it. It's super plush, thick and comfortable under bare feet. It lays flat. To vacuum it can be a bit of a problem. But just raise the height of your vacuum if you can. The price was great considering the quality and size of the rug. *** Update - January 2019 *** Well this rug has certainly held up over the years, still no loose fibers with vacuuming however I still regret getting ivory. It has progressively gotten darker on exposed areas, despite doing everything but enforcing a “don’t even walk on it” rule - ha! Still in good shape in areas that have been covered by furniture, but inevitable traffic spots have unfortunately flattened down, and I’m not sure if getting it professionally cleaned would restore it. I’ve gone as far as raking it and getting down on my hands and knees to brush it in an attempt to fluff it back up, but no cigar. Great carpet, but I think it will be retired soon due to the upkeep and enevitable wear/tear. *** Original Post *** I LOVE LOVE LOVE this carpet. I got the 8x12' size, it's HUGE and looks like I spent WAY more than I did. It was actually too big for our little apartment, but we moved shortly after and it is amazing. I saw similar quality but way smaller ones in stores for the same price if not more. I can't say I would order the Ivory again though, as it gets noticeably dirty over a short time even with a strict no-shoe-rule and frequent vacuuming. When we moved after 2 months of it arriving, you could clearly see where our L-shaped sectional couch and center ottoman had been because it was significantly whiter than the exposed areas. I do have a carpet steamer & may need to run it on this rug a couple of times a year. You're going to get dirt either way, especially with dogs, but what can ya do. It would honestly be my worst nightmare trying to return this one for a different color at this point, the thing is HUGE and needed two people to get into the house when it was delivered and I feel REALLY bad for the UPS guy who delivered it and I can't even image how much it would be for return shipping. Would highly highly highly recommend for those of you wanting an affordable, large, and not only aesthetically pleasing shag but also comfy. You really do sink into it. Now living in a house that has all wood floors on the first level, this is my most favorite place to be with bare feet and looks beautiful against dark wood floors. Vacuuming is easy, haven't seen any loose strings, doesn't need to be vacuumed to "look" like shag. Several other cheap shags i've gotten over the years flatten down so quickly & need to be vacuumed to appear fluffy. Not this one. It looks fluffy before & after vacuuming. Again, would only recommend the ivory if it's going to get light use, no shoes, no dogs, no kids, etc. I will be ordering another one in the future for another room & I think i'll go with beige next time. Totally worth the money. If you aren't sure about a huge one like the one I ordered, order a smaller one that you might use as a runner or small area rug, and see for yourself. Just cut and pasted my 1st review and changed the responses :) THIS RUG IS WELL WORTH THE $! It is so much more than you will expect! It is super soft and absolutely luxurious. Here are some answers you may be looking for...this is what I wanted answered when I was deciding if I wanted to buy a rug online sight unseen: What color did you order? Brown What size did you order? 8x10 How would you describe the color? It is a true dark brown. No rush hews at all. I would say it is the color of coffee beans - rich warm brown. Was there a smell? Not really, I noticed it when it was first unrolled...but lingered not more than a day or two. Not harsh or strong at all, even from the start. Any new carpet will have a smell...this was less smell than what I was expecting, a pleasant surprise :) How did arrive? FAST and rolled. This time is was only wrapped in plastic. Yes, the wrinkles fell out. Yes, it was matted down when I first unrolled it. Yes, I vacuumed it like a crazy lady for about 30 minutes. Once vacuumed it looked perfect! (Side note, it sat in my entry way for at least 2 months folded while the reno was being finished...and the sitting folded didn't effect it a bit) How is the texture? I would say the texture is a dense thick shag (almost has a curl to the fibers to ensure it is dense)...it is not sparse or cheap looking at all. You can not see any of the backing material from the front...it is super thick! It is not stringy or "shaggy" like a typical shag rug, it looks expensive and plush. How is the pile height? I think I remember the description saying it is 1" high (could be wrong), but I would say it is between 1 1/2 inch to 2 inches in pile height. It is much higher than I was expecting but welcome! Where did you order it for? My living room/formal living room. After buying the 1st rug, it was a no brainer to order this one for the other part of the house. I wanted something that the kids could lay on and that would provide some sound dampening. Yes, the kids and adults LOVE IT...it is super comfy to lay and sit on! Yes, it does help with the sound as we have travertine flooring throughout. Did you put a pad under it? NO, it didn't need one in my opinion. Would you order again? YES YES and YES! Would you suggest someone you know to order it? YES Are you happy with your purchase? YES! This rug is a unique size that was perfect for my daughter's nursery. The color is amazing and it really is a true silver. It can look lighter or darker depending on the lighting in the room as you can see in my photos. The pile is thick which I like, but I do wish it was softer. It's more the feeling of yarn rather than a super soft, luxurious rug. That being said, for the price it can't be beat, honestly my baby and I lay on the floor on this rug all the time and it's pretty comfortable and it definitely looks great.
