Description

Purpose-built for the security of duty officers, the Safariland 6390 ALS open- top holster features the ALS (Automatic Locking System), an internal locking device that retains the weapon in all directions immediately upon holstering, with no straps or snaps to manipulate. The holster is completely operable with the thumb and once the ALS is deactivated a simple straight-up draw is used. Constructed from durable SafariLaminate™, the Model 6390 ALS holster has a suede lining to protect your firearm’s sights and finish. This holster features a mid-ride belt loop that allows the handle to sit just above the belt

It's safariland enough said. Really though this holster is great. I have it for my Glock 19 with a light attached. I run the LAPG weapon light and a TLR-1 HL. Both lights work just fine. I have noticed some differences. For instance the safariland 6378 series holster for my Glock 19. The lapg light and the tlr-1 HL both fit smoothly. But on the 6390 series my lapg light it is slightly more snug. The draw and holster is still smooth but you can feel slight tension. It comes with an als guard, but if you're like me and want more retention you can get the safariland attachments that cover the ALS button. This holster is in black stx tactical. My Glock is a gen 3 just for reference. Hopefully this helps the many curious souls that surf the reviews for their answers like I do. ... show more

What I received was a 100% genuine Safariland holster. It appears to be well built and offers outstanding active weapon retention. I'm not a big fan of having my gun sit at a forward cant, but there are aftermarket remedies to this if I just can't get used to it. After receiving this holster, I understand why Safariland is the standard used by the professionals who carry weapons every day for work. The ALS system offers great retention but is easy to release when drawing your gun - your thumb hits the ALS lever easily, and drawing with fluid, uninterrupted movement can be reliably achieved after only a few dozen repetitions. Great product, and definitely the first of many Safariland holsters that I'll buy! ... show more

Absolutely love this holster. It had been on my list of work equipment to buy for a long time. I finally broke down and bought it. I had been using a serpa derpa level 3 for about four years and while Blackhawks customer service is top notch I wanted to try this holster out. The only problem I have with it is the release mechanism hood that protects the pew release appears to be flimsy. This made me question whether or not this product was a fake. I will be checking with my other coworkers' that have this holster as well. ... show more

The construction looks outdated and a lot less refined than the 7285 model. The suede inside is a cheap piece of fabric. ALS release is tight. Overall fitting so tight for P226R that the muzzle is 1/4 inch away from the bottom opening as if something is preventing it from going all the way in. If I force it to closer to the bottom, it would be stuck. The overall feel leaves a lot to be desired for something at this price level. ... show more

I was looking into starting 3 gun sports and I was looking for a good belt holster. In professional use I've used Safariland gear before. As they say, you get what you pay for. While the Safariland is one of the more expensive options. They offer superior durability and function. This holster can be modified to a higher threat level use by replacing the cover. The Level one retention is very solid. Very little weapon movement. Yet at the same time, very positive feel and easy to disengage when needed. You can upgrade the holster to level II retention with the optional ALS guard. If you are looking for a higher retention holster. Safariland has a newer ALS holster, the 7360 7TS that is available in level III retention. I previously used a leather Safariland level III holster as a police officer and it never failed me. This 6390 holster has a better fit than my old leather holster, and I suspect it will last me a lifetime. ... show more
