Like many people, my work setup changed this year to working at home. This meant bringing my work laptop home and having to work there. I already had a nice desktop setup with a 4K 24" LG monitor, speakers hooked up to the monitor and nice mechanical keyboard and (cheap) gaming mouse. Also had various peripherals such as a webcam and USB microphone. For a while I was moving cables back and forth but that got old real quick. So the good news. This KVM works as advertised. The "bad" news, there were some quirks - but I am still giving a 5 star review because those quirks could have been due to my computer or my specific peripherals. My setup: 4K 24" LG 24UD58-B monitor Red Dragon K556 RGB mechanical keyboard Red Dragon M601-3 gaming mouse (nothing fancy, but has glowing lights) 1/8" 2.1 powered speaker setup, plugged into monitor Home built desktop w/ nVidia GTX 1060 & TB3 card (so I can embed video in USB-C cable) Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED (2019) It took a bit of configuration to get everything working - initially I had been using DisplayPort from my desktop to the monitor but I had to switch to HDMI - but nothing major. Just re-routing some wires and changing where things are plugged in. I have the keyboard plugged directly into the KVM and a hub plugged into the other KVM port. The hub then has the USB webcam and USB microphone. I originally had the mouse plugged in as well but it was having weird problems. It would occasionally freeze up until I unplugged it and plugged it back in. This is a "cheap" gaming mouse so it could be the mouse having issues, drawing too much power. Could be the computer having issues with a mouse connected through so many hub devices. Could be the KVM. Could be the hub itself. Not sure. For now I'm just plugging the mouse directly into the computer. Seeing as the keyboard, webcam and USB mic all work fine I'm assuming it is something unique to this mouse OR the combination of everything involved. If the KVM was at fault I would expect one of the other devices to also have issues. I can also confirm that this KVM works with 4K@60Hz over HDMI w/ audio. Initially, both desktop and laptop came up at 30Hz, but after I went into advanced settings on each and switched them to 60Hz they remembered that. Hot plugging works fantastic as does switching between inputs. Obviously it takes a few seconds for things to settle since as far as the computer is concerned you just unplugged or plugged in the cable. But everything comes up exactly like I would expect. I can't make any claims to the power delivery, though I would expect it works fine. My laptop does not support charging over USB-C so I couldn't really test that. It should also be noted that this is not a "smart" KVM - which is fantastic. And what I mean by that is the KVM doesn't emulate a keyboard/mouse to the computer, it directly passes it through. This has the downside that you can't do switching from the keyboard with hotkeys. But the upside is that your fancy keyboard and all it's media keys actually work. In my opinion, this device would be perfect if it provided 3 USB ports. 1 for Keyboard, 1 for Mouse and 1 for "other USB device (including hub)".

I desperately wanted to like this KVM switch. Everything about it functioned perfectly except for the connection between my Logitech unifying receiver and MX Keys / MX Master mouse. My use case is two Macbooks (M2 Pro and M1 Air). After "forgetting" both keyboard and mouse on the Air, I was able to add both devices via Logi+ software while the unifying receiver was plugged into one of the USB-A ports on the KVM. But the connection was super unstable. You could observe this right from the Logi+ app that shows the connection status of both devices. The connection would drop for up to a few seconds every 2-10 seconds. It was basically unusable. I confirmed that the dongle works without lag when plugged directly into either macbook. Further research shows that Logitech doesn't recommend using their unifying receiver in a USB hub. So I can't fault Sabrent for my use case not working. I'm bummed that other reviewers seem to have been able to accomplish this in similar scenarios but I wasn't.

As some of the other reviews have stated, this KVM is very well designed and has some subtle usability design decisions that go a long way towards user experience. Eg: The USB type A ports are reversible, the toggle switch has a magnetic base so it just stuck to my monitor arm base. I have a Linux Lenovo laptop with USB C and a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ with a USB C port. The laptop has zero issues with this KVM. But the S7+ only works when you first switch to it. But when you switch away from the S7+ and go back to it, the HDMI output works but the keyboard and mouse don't work anymore. If you unplug the USB C cable and replug it, the mouse and keyboard works (but beats the point of KVM). So, if you are looking for a KVM to work with a Samsung device, I'd recommend staying away. I replaced the Tab S7+ with a Pixel to see if the Pixel has problems seeing the keyboard and mouse. Pixel has no problems with this (display doesn't work because Pixel doesn't support external displays). So this seem to be a Samsung problem. Things Sabrent could do better in the next version: 1. Add USB 3.0 ports (don't remove the 2.0 ones as the wireless mouse/keyboard have problems with USB 3.0). USB 3.0 (at least 5Gbps) can be supported with one 4k @ 60fs output. 2. Add a USB-C port so that we can attach other USB C hubs to the KVM (so the USB-C hub can switch between the "PCs") 3. Add a hotkey mechanism if it's capable of intercepting the keystrokes. 4. Have a toggle switch to emulate a full unplug/plug to deal with misbehaving devices like the Tab S7+.

Been using this for about 5 months now. Setup was simple with the original laptop power bricks. Unfortunately this device has bricked two different laptops at different times. Both were sub 65w devices, one dell, one HP, and without any signs or explanation the device would cease to function. I pulled the battery packs, reset cmos, walked through steps with the manufacture and nothing brought either laptop back. I would not recommend this device considering the risk of it bricking your device.

This unit is almost perfect, however it seems like they really dropped the ball in a few areas. 1. This device is very future forward and includes tons of USB C ports. However, its unlikely to work for the large majority of Windows desktop PCs, due to the lack of USB C. There are only a handful of GPUs on the market that have USB C video out. And the leading manufacturers have stopped making USB C video cards. You will need a motherboard with Thunderbolt 3, or Alt mode USB C. This device does work well with my Mac laptop however. 2. USB 2.0??? IN 2021?!!!! How can u have USB C connectivity, but only offer two USB 2.0 ports? I have 5 peripherals that I need to switch between computers. So I attached a USB hub to the unit, however USB 2.0 can't handle the load. I get inconsistent response from my Keyboard and Audio Interface while attached through the system. I feel like its a HUGE oversight not to include USB 3, if the unit cost an extra $20 for that feature it would be well worth it. 3. Switcher locked on both PC 1 and PC 2 at the same time. This was a really frustrating bug, where I could get neither of the computers to recognize the keyboard/mouse. I had to unplug everything and restart. All in all, I think this is a decent unit that might work for some users, but will probably fail to satisfy the average customer looking to switch between a desktop computer and a laptop.

I have bought a number of KVM tools as I work remotely with both a work and personal laptop. This turned out to be a great tool that actually accomplishes what I want which seems simple, but well I needed to buy a new KVM tool as I had thrown all of the other ones away. This one I will keep. For USB-c Macs this works well. I have used a number of slightly smaller docking dongles that have a power , video, and usb connections, but need to be pulled from one laptop and plugged into another. out of 3, one of those worked as I expected. For some the video on the monitor would not come up and HDMI cable needed to be pulled and plugged back in to reset it. for others it was the USB speaker that needed to be pulled to reset it. This one does what I wanted. - When you switch the KVM the video actually comes up on the external monitor without pulling the HDMI cable to reset it. (seems basic, but not always the case) - Power input x2 for each laptop. This goes into the switch and then over USB-c to the laptops. No need to string extra cables. One USB-c cable to each laptop, easy to pull 1 cable and go mobile. - Issue, there are only 2 USB ports for peripherals, not enough for Speaker, Camera, Mouse, and Keyboard, so you will need a separate USB hub. I added a 4 port USB hub and now all my needs are met.

This is a very interesting product. Instead of building a traditional KVM, Sabrent appears to have taken two generic USB-C dongles (or hubs or switch or adapters) and combined them together. Each dongle has: 1 - a USB-C input 2 - an optional USB-C PD connector 3 - a HDMI output 4 - Two USB-A outputs With the HDMI and USB-C ports connected on both dongle. And a button to switch between the two. It lacks real USB-C video benefits, such as HDR if both the computer and monitor support it, or carrying USB-C signal to a monitor's built-in USB hub. And it lacks real KVM benefits, such as keyboard control, or a virtual monitor on a computer once you've toggled away from it. However (for switching the keyboard, mouse, and video) it works well on the computers I've tested on, and is perfect for business or general home use. (but not for gaming or creative use if HDR or higher video refresh rates are needed).

I tested the Sabrent USB-C KVM switch with a 2021 M1 Macbook Pro and a 2020 M1 Mac Mini. PROS: I really like that the KVM switch has all of the connections on one side, which helps with cable management. The included cable lengths are just right when using the included mounting bracket to mount the switch under the desk. I like the wired remote switch button--it's prefect for swapping computers when the KVM switch is mounted out of the way. CONS: The KVM switch locks up from time to time (both PC lights on the remote are lit at the same time) and the only way to reset it is by unplugging both computers from the KVM switch. This is very impractical when the KVM switch is mounted in its intended location under a desk. If the KVM switch included an actual power button, or independent power, resets may be easier. However it locks up far too often to be production ready. Next there are issues with the PC power input on the KVM switch. When using the KVM switch with an M1 Macbook and Macbook power adapter plugged into the KVM switch's PC power input causes frequent unresponsiveness of keyboard and monitor (I believe this happens when the Macbook sleeps). The fix requires unplugging both computers from the switch to force a reset. When the Macbook power adapter is plugged directly into the Macbook, the "sleep lock up" issue doesn't seem to happen. This workaround defeats the purpose of having built-in power delivery in the KVM switch. Unfortunately the cons outweigh the pros here as having to constantly reset the KVM switch defeats the purpose of having a KVM that can be mounted out of the way. I will be returning this KVM switch in search of something better.
