How to Choose Pillow Insert Size It's typically recommended to use a pillow insert larger than the pillowcase for a nice plumpy pillow, especially for the older flattened pillows or fiber fill. Sometimes, for 100% Hypoallergenic Polyester Inserts, after filling, pillow will decrease about 10% - 15% in size. The toss pillow covers feature 18"x18". So, for best results, now 1-2 size up larger inserts are recommended to buy together with the items to provide full pillow from corner to corner. It took me a while to find this color as most 'fall' items were orange and would not look well in my dining room (it's almost the same exact shade as the pillows). And because I'm persnickety I wanted velvet. I use them in the two end chairs at my dining table (seats six). These two chairs have cream damask covers and are angled out slightly, so the pillows are in view as the dining room is visible from the front door foyer. Along with the other autumn decor I have in this room, they add a beautifully classic touch. I ordered them specifically because of the zippers as I replace the covers seasonally. They were not (much) wrinkled but I did lightly iron them (be "careful" to use "low" heat) before putting them into the forms.
