  • Works great, sprayer needs to be lower than backpack in order to adequately draw
First off, this thing works great, I was a little hesitant based on some of the reviews I read, so when I received this, I immediately started testing. Turns out that when you're wearing the backpack, the natural tendency of the arm is to bring the sprayer up to about the level that the draw hose is - thus causing feed issues, loud sputtering, and a bad or non-existent spray pattern coming out. The simple SOLUTION is to let your arm hang down all the way to ensure the sprayer is lower than the backpack OR just hold the 1 gallon container in your other hand, while spraying, to ensure it's always higher than the sprayer. Once I figured this out, I treated my property (probably 1000 linear feet) with water/permethrin spray, and this sprayer performed beautifully. Yes it's a little finicky potentially, however, that's the nature of gravity and the fact that there isn't a pump in the backpack as well. Honestly, for this price and this performance, I'm extremely happy. Go for it and buy this! ... show more

  • Could not prime
This item did not work. Despite repeated attempts, I could not get this to prime. Therefore, the liquids would not spray.

  • It does work.
I know a lot of people have had issues with this and after using it, I can appreciate their problems. Mine arrived in pretty beat up box, with re-sealed tape on it. The inside box was the same, a little beat up and appeared to have been opened and returned perhaps, difficult to know for sure. I was really happy to see there were 2, 2ah batteries included. I expected only 1 so nice surprise. I decided to try water through this initially due to others issues. I had the same problem with the pump not priming. Ok, so I'm an engineer and spent a lot of my career in automotive and marine. First I tried what was in the manual, that didn't work. The pump is tricky to prime. So next was remove all the air from the feed tube. Nope, that didn't work either. Next I pressurized the tank slightly and that did the trick. It kept on feeding no problem for the entire tank of water. These do seem to work well once you eventually and painstakingly get the pump primed. If you have issues, I'd start with water, remove all the air from the hose and if needed slightly pressurize the tank and that will get you going. ... show more

  • Good Price - So Far A Good Sprayer
Glad I ordered this. I actually have two but the first one cost me nearly twice as much. The sprayer is super easy to use and I covered 5-7000 square feet in less than 2 hours. The unit is an electrostatic sprayer so it charges the particles and you can see the spray wrap around objects. It does have a tendency to drip every once in a while but I don't see that as a big drawback. I am really happy about this purchase. I have only used the sprayer three times. Once to trial it which is the use described above and on two other occasions where I sprayed small areas. Hopefully it will last a long time. It does have a warranty! ... show more

  • Works great for my application update
This is a good sprayer. Due to some of the reviews I almost didn’t order it. The initial priming did take a few minutes. That is to be expected due to the gravity feed from the tank. After the initial priming I have not had any issues. The battery performance has been good. One thing I liked is the unit comes with two batteries and a charger. The cleaning of the unit is no problem. Rinse the tank with fresh water and then connect it back to the sprayer and flush the spray head with the fresh water in the tank. I have enjoyed the fact the unit is lightweight. I have used it only three times so far. If an issue comes up I will update this review. Update Well the unit failed. The next time I used the unit it was fogging good. Then I let go of the trigger and a stream of the fungicide I was using continued to come out of the nozzle. Triggered it a few times but didn’t help. I rinsed out the tank with fresh water and ran fresh water through the unit. Let go of the trigger same problem. UGH!!! So disappointed. There were a lot of nice features but if the unit leaks it’s useless for my application. ... show more

  • This is not a good product for disinfecting with certain products (bleach, peroxide)
I am still in the middle of escalating my concern about this product. Advertised as useful for disinfecting, it's not until you receive the product and read the fine print that it becomes clear that you can't use bleach, peroxide, and many other CDC and EPA products for preventing spread of COVID-19. Had I not read every word, I would have used my products and destroyed this machine. This seems like it was designed for gardening and switched over quickly to market during the pandemic. There should be very clear information before buying about products that work or SHOULD NOT be used with it. The first person I spoke with at Ryobi put me on hold, then came back and told me it was fine to use with hydrogen peroxide. When I told her I had read it wasn't ok, she asked me where that was in the brochure and then said "oh, then it must not be ok." I've not escalated to account managers and the VP of sales. I really feel that this was poorly advertised and not an appropriate tool for disinfecting at all. UPDATE: My issue is with the marketing of the product. I have received a lot of support directly from Ryobi and think this will work out in the end. They had to check the specific content of the disinfectant I was using and it will be fine. ... show more
