  • Just what the Vet ordered.
Color: New Label
Vet recommended this canine liver supplement after my senior Doodle tested low on his liver panel, which is Normal for a senior, but merited watching. Used it for 4 years til my good ol fella moved on at 17 years old. Highly recommend. As for a Doodle, also Highly Recommended.

  • Good value- also buy SAM-e to replicate Denamarin
Color: Multi
My senior dog had elevated liver values, so we had a liver ultrasound and bile-acid test done to see if her liver was failing. Fortunately, other than high ALP values, everything else was deemed fine. ALP and ALT are the two major types of liver values that vets watch out for. My dog had ALP values near 1000, and normal values for ALT. My vet recommended Denamarin Advanced to lower her liver values. Denamarin Advanced is a prescription only product available at the vet, and it costs $115 per bottle for a 30 day supply/count. It's considered the most effective, even more effective than regular Denamarin available OTC for about ~$60, but it was unavailable because of the pandemic supply shortage. This review is our experience using this Hepato product + SAM-e for months until Denamarin Advanced became available again: The active ingredients for Denamarin Advanced are S-Adenosylmethionine and Silybin-phosphatidylcholine complex. Basically, SAM-e and Silybin. This product has Silybin but no SAMe. To replicate Denamarin, we combined this with a human version of SAMe (from Nature's Trove but can be other brands) since canine products often have a significant markup. Still, in general, when buying human products for dogs, always be careful to research and read reviews to make sure it's safe for dog consumption. We were very conservative with trying off-brand products, so we only fed half of the recommended dosage. As a result, there was no change in bloodwork BUT our dog's symptoms did improve. I can't say for sure, but I believe that had we given the full recommended dosage, my dog's bloodwork would have also improved. My dog's biggest symptoms were very heavy panting, drinking lots of water, and slight weight gain. One sidenote, Denamarin Advanced is given on an empty stomach in the morning, at least 1 hour prior to breakfast for maximum absorption. The instructions for this product say to give with food, but the instructions for SAM-e said to give on an empty stomach. We ended up just giving both together with breakfast to be on the safe side, so our feeding method + half dosage may have affected our results / bloodwork. ... show more

  • Not sure what its really helped with internally but...
Color: Multi
Seems to have played a role in limiting the number of times my dog has pottied on the carpet.... it was getting to be once a day if i wasnt constantly asking her about going potty.... but since she started this, she's only had 2 accidents, and 1 of which was directly after starting the product so I know it wouldnt have had time to start working for her yet. As a pet owner who feels like my babygirl is literally my soulmate - came into my life in the most unexpected way, and could only be called an event of Divine Timing, and has been with me through the roughest and toughest times of my life - I would like to offer some information I have recently come across that may very well be the source of whatever your baby (dog) is going through..... Ive been struggling with extreme and debilitating exhaustion for nearly 15 years and recently found a book on Kindle called "Energy: how emotions affect.........." written by Healthview (Colin and Loren Chatsworth, a pair of brothers) and is literally the transcript of an interview with the late Dr. Paul Eck, a genius in nutritional balancing - the balancing of the body's minerals, trace minerals, and the detox of toxic heavy metals.... i high recommend purchasing this book which can be purchased through Kindle for $9.99 (digital version) because this whole topic is just as relevant for pets as it is for humans.... and if youre anything like me, prior to reading the book, i was giving my girl tap water from a house with copper pipes... ironically, out of the 6 dogs we had living here - 1 just had to be put down due to liver cancer that had progressed too far before symptoms became present; and another dog, who is still living, has had extremely high liver enzymes for causes unknown.... however, just like the vet said, it COULD be due to copper toxicity.... there are only 2 ways to find out...1 being a liver biopsy which mean the dog would have to go a hospital on the nearest campus of a veterinary research college because the vets dont typically perform this procedure. Or the alternative, is to purchase a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis which is completely harmless to the animal as a small chunk of their hair is sent in to get minerals analyzed. There are a lot of caveats to this, but the Initial test AND the retest (because mineral levels should be periodically tested after beginning a program for balancing them), can both be purchased for $120.00 which is much less than i would imagine a biopsy is.... not to mention, a biopsy may offer a diagnosis, but it does NOT reveal the root cause of why the liver is malfunctioning in the first place. Whereas a PROPER interpretation of mineral ratios, when read correctly, explains exactly what the root cause is and doesnt attempt to trick the body into shutting down the symptoms... continuing with the mineral balancing program (which typically consists of beginning mineral supplements, [whereas each generally cost $20-$45 a bottle] which is exactly how one should go about detoxing from heavy metals anyway, assuming they arent just picking minerals at random, but are following a protocol as directed by a practitioner of nutritional balancing).... its all VERY specific, but i highly recommend reading the book and quite honestly, if it doesnt mean enough to you to invest the $10 to learn the detrimental aspects of this method, then completely forget about the rest of the program because youre highly likely to make things worse either for yourself or your loved one. Minerals are the LITERAL building blocks of all body compositions (cells, tissues, organs, etc) and theres not a single bodily process that doesnt entirely rely on the proper balance of all minerals in the system... one mineral imbalance naturally and automatically means several more are affected. This is the real root cause of MANY conditions ... show more

  • Unable to tell if this is really helping
Color: New Label
The canine is on a medicine for congestive heart failure that causes liver issues. So we are just trying to combat any loss of liver function at this point in time. Liver enzymes are just slightly edging up despite being on this twice in three times a day.

Pretty sure this is why my dog's liver values are back to normal.
