Small cans of Wood conditioners are hard to find in big box stores. I'm glad i didn't find the mixwax product, this one is much better in the sense that it really did help even out the stain i applied after this product. The minwax wood conditioner has left me disappointed with how the stain still had splotches, this Varathane product treated the wood surface extremely well and the stain was more even than any of my previous projects. ... show more

I tackled my project without this and it was a blotchy mess. I totally stripped the wood again and applied this conditioner which made everything perfect. 100% better, the difference between failure and success.

In my experience this works way better than the Minwax one. After application it has provided even staining. Of course for both conditioning and staining do outside or in a extremely well ventilated area. I have found best results using a foam brush applicator for both this conditioner and stain.
