But mine's working just fine. I have a reliable dial thermometer and this one matches it, it's just much faster. I slow cooked something at 180 and this thermometer was accurate the whole time. I put it in ice water, it read 31-33.. I put it in boiling water, it read 210-213.. And when I slow-cooked chicken in broth for a few hours at 180-185 it read 180-185 the entire time. I've only used this thermometer about 4x, but it's worked great every time. It falls asleep if you leave the probe open, and if you pick it up to use it it turns back on.. Based on reviews I've read, just be careful when you open it, open it slowly and carefully. If anything changes, I'll change my review - but SO FAR I'M EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THIS, AND GLAD I DIDN'T SPEND $100+ ON AN EXPENSIVE BRAND, BECAUSE THIS ONE WORKS GREAT AND THE EXPENSIVE ONES HAVE MANY BAD REVIEWS SAYING THEY'RE INACCURATE AS WELL.

I have several and I mean several different kitchen thermometers which all leave me frustrated. So I started looking this got good reviews I know you can’t always count on them either but this is thee best bar none! I live when you open it the light comes on and shuts off when you close it. When you want to put it in something it’s there. The temp is there and accurate. It’s the most amazing one I’ve had in a really long time. Give it a go !

We’ve gone through several meat thermometers from the local big-box store, which were not rated waterproof, so inevitably they would fail. The number one requirement for this replacement was waterproof, followed by accurate. This is both—we can wash it under the tap and not hold our breath over whether it will turn on tomorrow, and it gives a good temperature reading within seconds. The other features are great too—the backlight, the rotating display, the internal temperature chart on the back, the internal magnet. All things I love, all icing on the cake after the first two points, but definitely points in favor of recommending this thermometer to others.

My last thermometer stopped working because when I was rinsing the prong water splashed on the device and it shorted out. So waterproof was the main thing I was looking for in a new one and this certainly delivers. It is very well made and I like that it doesn’t feel flimsy - when you pull the metal rod out it doesn’t just swing open. Also it automatically turns on when you open it.

This is the best instant read I have used! I have had 3 other fast read probes that were similar but definitely knock offs. The first one I got 4 years ago and it was half the price of a thermopro at the time - it was really good and I bought a second one. They had similar features to this one like the auto-rotate screen when you turned read from a different angle and a good backlight - but eventually both died from a loose RTD or water behind the screen. The last one was just cheap - it looked the same but didn't rotate the temp, and lasted less than a year! This ThermoPro FEELS well built. It reads incredibly fast and accurately. It is VERY easy to use - open it up and stick it in what you want to measure! What I love most about it - when you set it down with the probe opened it will turn off. Unlike my previous ones, when you just the Thermopro back up - it turns back on from your touch alone! Need to use it at a different angle - the Temperate will always read in the correct orientation. When you need a new battery - it just uses a AAA battery! No random coin batteries.

I recommend this thermometer for anyone who is looking for excellent value. This thermometer can't be beat for high quality at a very reasonable price. The read time is almost instant. Since I don't have anything to compare it to, I assume (?) that the accuracy is correct. So, unless you can compare this with another thermometer that you know is accurate, you will have to rely on the stated accuracy of this one. That being said, I would highly recommend this thermometer to anyone who cooks.

This is by far the best thermometer I’ve ever purchased. Super happy. Fully submersible making it easy to wash. Fast response makes it quicker to check temperature of your food. Super accurate right out of the box. Love that it can be calibrated if needed. When doing the ice water test, this amazing thermometer read 31.8°F while my garbage thermometer read 40.3°F. I had no idea my old piece of trash cheap thermometer was so far off calibration. I’m glad I purchased this thermometer. I never thought of checking a thermometer’s accuracy with ice water until reading the calibration instructions that came with this thermometer. I’m glad, for my family’s and my safety, that I purchased this thermometer. A bonus (for me) is it came in my favorite color! Honestly I purchased this because it was my favorite color, only to be blown away by the features it has. Another bonus, it’s magnetic! I’ve had other “magnetic” thermometers that just slide down with gravity. This thermometer stays stuck to my oven door and won’t slide off even with repeated opening of the oven. My son actually (cringe) slammed the oven and this didn’t budge. Purchase this thermometer! You’ll be happy!

The positive reviews on Amazon along with the Consumer Reports recommendation made this a no-brainer. The ease of use, large digital display and lightning fast readout make this unit a must-have for anyone who spends as much time at the grill as I do. I grill all year long - in the sun, in the rain, even in 2 feet of snow. I have a digital thermometer for stationary foods (turkeys, roasts, etc.) but I needed a convenient way to check the temperature of food on the rotisserie. The ThermoPro TP19H is so easy to read, and so fast, that I can stop the rotisserie motor, take the temperature, and start the rotisserie motor in less than 10 seconds, and that is a major plus when it is raining buckets.
