The winch itself is fine. One of the remote controls didn’t work when I received it. The other remote control worked but the winch started and stopped and started and stopped when the button was held.I opened up the non-working remote and found a little bit of Solder where it didn’t belong and now that remote works fine and I am very happy with the winch. 11-1-20 update. The starting and stopping of the winch when I held the remote button no longer happens. I use the winch to raise and lower my 30 foot vertical ham radio antenna and watch it on my smartphone with a tv camera mounted under my house eve under the roof. Bought a winch from Tractor Supply for twice the price. The remote ,which was extra from them, did not work on the winch I purchased. I returned everything and ordered this winch, which is rated 1000lbs more and came with 2 remotes! I replaced the steel cable with “dyneema” which is a synthetic one equal in strength to steel of the same diameter. The advantage is NO “man hooks” to slice your hand as you guide the cable. I used this winch for a very unusual application:lifting the ramp up on my dock. The remote control was very helpful in allowing me to be on the dock lifting the dock pole while the ATV wench took 1000 lbs of horizontal ramp weight off the pole permitting easy lift of the dock pole. What is not good is the instruction manual which is not clear about wiring the manual switch or clarifying that the manual switch is not necessary and can be left out of the installation but still permitting the remote control to be used for operation. ... show more

Total waste of money. Very cheaply made. I used it to lift around 50 lbs first and it struggled greatly, stopping after around 10 feet so it could cool off. Then, I tried to get it to lift 70 lbs and it only lifted it around a foot. I was like, "Really?" It's falsely rated at 3500 lbs which is just a big fat lie to get you to purchase it. So, if you need a winch to lift around 25-40 lbs, this would work fine. Anything above that, you're going to be disappointed and have to send it back. ... show more

It works OK for the money. I'm doubtful it can pull 3500 pounds, probably not even close. Under a fairly good load (well under 1000 pounds though) yesterday it would free spool out unless I had th emotor pulling in. (there's no brake) But most irritating ~ I bought it specifically for a job that *required* about 42' of cable. To lower, and raise a small tower. We went to lower the tower and the winch ran out of cable *before* the tower was down. The damned thing only had about 35' of cable on it ~ not the 50' as promised in the description. Frustrating! ~ and a bit dangerous. The spool would fit 50' (barely) ~ but it only came with 35. I should send it back but at this point it's looking a bit used. ... show more
