My Background: Welding for 30 years, AWS certified Stick, TIG, MIG, & Flux Core in multiple materials, Kind of a Miller Snob when it comes to industrial welding equipment, at home I work on a lot of miscellaneous stuff for myself and do a little bit of side work when people are in need. I have two other welders in the garage (Miller MIG and Everlast AC/DC TIG), but they take some effort to load into the truck if I just have a quick little job, this one is the size of a lunch box and only weighs about 10 lbs. making it really easy to throw in the truck. I like the option of 110/220V input power, and It should run great off my little 7KW generator. Great price (Amazon had a $45 coupon) and it delivered less than 24 hours after I clicked "order now". The welding shield, gloves, and wire brush that come in the box are honestly not even worth talking about...just toss them. The ground and stinger aren't all that bad considering the purchase price, and the cables seem to be of fairly decent quality and thicker than I expected. The power cord is nice and beefy as well. I also appreciate that it comes with a 110/220 adapter. I did not purchase the TIG kit for it...probably won't either since I already have a decent TIG. I plugged it into 110, adjusted the settings and struck an arc with 3/32 7018 and it ran pretty decent...right up until it shut off...well, it's my own fault because I had it plugged into an extension cord that was a little too light duty for this purpose. but on the plus side, it shut itself off before kicking the breaker which was kind of nice. In some industrial sites if you kick a breaker it might take you hours to locate the panel and reset the breaker. I switched to my 220V outlet and it ran very well. The settings take a little bit to find the "happy zone", but once I got it dialed in I am pretty happy with the machine. As with most of the inexpensive MMA welders similar to this one, the amp reading is probably not correct. It seems to be about 8-10 amps less actual output than what the screen reads. Update: I just ran a few rods and checked it with a clamp on amp meter, and it's running almost exactly 10 amps less than what the machine is set for. This isn't a terrible thing, just something to be aware of. I didn't try any 6010, 6011, 6013 rods. Honestly I am not a fan of them and if I need to weld some rusty junk I would rather take the time to properly clean the base metal rather than try to burn through the junk with a 60XX rod. I haven't done any open root pipe welding in years and would rather not these days. With that said, it's supposed to run these rods as well. Maybe if I get a chance I'll burn some and update my review. The panel looks nice, and hopefully it holds up over time. The controls are easy to understand and with a little fiddling you can dial it in to where you like it. It might be just slightly larger than some of it's competitors in this price range, but honestly it's not enough to even give a second thought to. For a little over $100, I'd say give it a shot.

I received the Rubik welder the other day which was packaged well with extra parts. I'm a retired pipe welder and I still do quite a bit of welding. I have a few welders but needed a small light weight welder that I can use with 120 v. I ran a couple beads and put a few things together and this machine surprised me on how well it works. It does work better in 240v but the 120v works well also. I need that for a specific project. 3/32" runs really hot but 1/8" works better for me. There's no instructions about an extension cord for 120 but I'll use one with #10 wire. A 20 amp circuit is all I used and had no trouble. I dropped it off the table, not on purpose, about 3 foot and I didn't like myself for a minute but it didn't affect the machine at all, very impressed. So go ahead and buy if you're thinking about it.

I used this welder once when I first got it. I took it out yesterday and it doesn't work. There doesn't seem to be any power to the cords. When you strike the electrode it barely sparks. I checked the connections, the ground and turned the power off and back on. I struck the electrode holder directly to the ground clamp again barely a spark. The amperage that is supposed to go up to 225 will only go up to 137. It is useless now, it's not heavy enough to even use as a boat anchor.

I must say, the placement of the screen right above the machine is incredibly convenient when working at heights. The digital display on the screen is clear and easy to read, allowing me to monitor the settings effortlessly.Moreover, the shoulder strap provided with the machine is sturdy enough, making it a perfect replacement for my previous portable stick welding machine. RUBIK's design clearly takes into account the needs of its customers, and I am truly impressed. I searched extensively and finally found a welder with an LED screen positioned on top, which is lightweight, compact, user-friendly, and easy to carry.
