    • The generic version is better
A friend bought me a 16-piece set for my birthday. It was the generic version of this Rubbermaid container and there were four 5-cup & four 3-cup (?) with lids. I accidentally put a knife through one of the 5-cup containers so another friend bought me two of these Rubbermaid ones for Christmas. The Rubbermaid is a crispier, harder plastic. The Rubbermaid lid has a vent but it doesn't work very well. Pokes up only a little bit. The generic ones have more pliable plastic for the container and the lid, and the vents work much better. I usually love Rubbermaid products but this time, generic wins. (Unfortunately, my friend could not find the generic ones at Amazon when buying these 2 Rubbermaid containers.) ... show more

These storage containers have been my go-to food organizers for over 5 years. All the lids and containers are stackable. The plastic is thick and durable. I regularly use these in the microwave and they hold up fine. With repeated uses in the microwave, the plastic does start to stain a little - but that is expected with normal wear and tear. I have also frozen food inside these containers without a problem. These are safe to put into the dish washer but always place them on the top of my dishwasher rack to keep them away from the highest temperature water. I don't know if this is necessary, but I do it to increase their longevity. I am a lifelong customer of these containers. I hope they never get discontinued. ... show more

These are our go-to storage container in the kitchen. We use and abuse them, and they stand up to all the abuse. They tend to last years before we happily replace them with the same version. (The kids throw it in the microwave one time too many and for too libg, or something else extreme.) They’re definitely worth the money given their longevity. Yes, we try not to microwave them, but they’ll hold how up to quick periods in the microwave. Just don’t heat up your soup for 3-4 minutes. 🤦🏻♂️ ... show more

I use these containers to cook veggies. The open vent on top keeps the lid from blowing off. When the veggies have cooled, they are ready for refrigerator storage with the vent closed. Since they are clear, I can see the amount of veggies in the container.
