They are solid rubber weights. I didnt like that the weights came before my stand did, I had to wait 2 more days before it came in. I am not sure what happened but I got all the pieces. It is the perfect set for starting an at home gym. I am excited to add more weights as I progress in my fitness journey. They do have a rubbery odor when you initially open them, but I enjoy the smell. Overall a great purchase especially for the price.

These are really good quality for the price, but goodness me they smell awful. They come all greasy, so have to be washed thoroughly before use, and they smell like a tyre for about a week after unpackaging. All in all, though, happy with the purchase.

Very sturdy with a good grip. I do feel bad for the delivery person though—hopefully the seller considers packaging each dumbbell separately. My fedex guy looked really suffering

This is a very nice set of dumbbells. Quality is great and the stand is really nice. As noted by some of the low reviews, the dumbbells (not the stand) appear to have been sprayed with some type of oil (smells like WD-40) before boxing. This may be to avoid the handles rusting during shipping due to humidity, given that they are chrome plated steel. Just wipe them down with a wet paper towel and you are good to go.

HORRIBLE SMELL I've washed these things three times with Dawn, and the smell is still very strong! They were VERY greasy, and it smells like oil? I consider myself slightly sensitive to smells... but my entire family has commented on the room stinking and giving them a headache. Otherwise, these seem like decent dumbbells for the price. Whatever metal they use is soft. It already has a few dents on the handle part upon arrival, and one had sharp shards sticking out that my husband easily filed off. Will update a review in a few months. Hopefully, the smell dissipates..

Looking at the previous review was hesitant to order, about the smell n damage n lot of negative reviews, but I’m happy I ordered. I ordered on Tuesday 11 pm everything came on Thursday afternoon in two days all the package came at the same time, I was thinking to open n wash it outside took a chance n open my first box everything was perfect no smell no grease package was nicely packed only one was little bit ripped no damage I’m so happy with my purchase without any doubt you can order for your home workout I give 5 ⭐️
