I am setting up a little workout space in my basement and needed something to hold my 160lbs of weights. The price was right on this!! I wasn’t expecting the ease of assembly and the quality of the product. I have the little 5lb weights on the middle post. The 25 and 50’s on the sided and i think i have a 10. I would recommend getting the rack set up in the space you want because it’s too heavy to move and you’ll have to take everything off. Its super sturdy… not just for the price but overall. One side oft the posts did not screw in as tight as the others but it does not hinder usability. The foot print is very small so it takes up a small amount of space. The coating, which i expected to reflect the cost… absolutely did not. I can tell that this will hold up well!! I would recommend for a beginner weight lifting space as it is priced appropriately and quality enough to get a newbie started!! ... show more

I had a storage rack made by Marcy before this, and the bars were a bit too large for the 1” weight holes. The CAP unit is much better, with a good fit, neither loose nor snug. PROS: * Lots of space for my plates, about 240 pounds *Hammered finished that appears durable so far. The weights slide on and off easily. CONS: * Missing one cap. I really wish the packers would have done better, I will plug with epoxy putty instead. ... show more

I am very pleased with this rack because when assembled it is very rigid. A few reviews complain about the rack wobbling. I found that the Allen wrench (aka hex wrench or hex key) that is included is not up to the job of tightening this rack properly. Get a good set of long hardened metric Allen wrenches so it will not round out in the bolt, and a socket set or box end set of wrenches. Tighten until the slightest amount of deformation of the steel tubes can be detected. Then it is tight enough. The U brackets will take some extra leverage to totally compress them tight against the center tube. This is why good tools are needed, and a bit of muscle. Also take note that the bottom center "peg" DOES NOT TAKE A WASHER!!!! If a washer is used then the head of the bolt sticks down too far and makes the rack "wobble" (it can be spun like a top, don't ask how I know this. LOL). The bottom tube has an extra large indentation specifically to allow the bolt head to clear the floor. Putting a washer here is probably why many reviewers complained that there was a missing washer. The instructions clearly show that no washer is used at this location. After assembly, place the rack on a hard level surface and it may wobble. At this point, loosen two of the bolts at one end, press down on the rack to level the feet and tighten those bolts again. Bingo! Its level and does not wobble. In the attached photos, the big weights on the lower peg are 12.25" diameter, 25 LBS each. They will fit one above the other on same side, with about 3/8 to 1/2 inch clearance between them. If you have Olympic weights with the 2" hole, I strongly suggest getting the Olympic weight version. Once the rack is loaded with weights, it will be difficult to move. I use a "utlity" room for an exercise room as well as other tings and need to move the weight rack around. So a set of heavy duty casters Online Best Service 4 Pack Caster Wheels Swivel Plate Casters On Black Polyurethane Wheels 880 Lbs (2 inch Plate)were screwed to the bottom and the rack rolls around easily even when loaded, even on a rug. And stability is not affected, even when pulling the loaded rack by the very top point sideways. The rack was further modified by replacing the center bottom peg with a "foot" that came with a missed weld on one side. Cap Barbell sent a replacement part and I used the old part to make a center mounted bar stand using 2" metal plumbing pipe caps and heavy duty stainless clips at the top. That is why the rack looks different from the description photos. Also back when I ordered, white was an option. Its a good rack, and with casters, it is much more manageable. But you will not be happy with the results using a pair of pliers and the included Allen wrench to assemble it. Hope this info saves you aggravation. Happy Lifting! ... show more

Easy to assemble, very sturdy and stable. Using it for my collection of old school bumper weights and modern plate weights. Very happy with this purchase. The largest I have stored on it are two modern 25lbs CAP plate weights, and they fit just fine on the lowest side rack without hitting the floor or crowding the upper peg. I'd recommend planning on two weights per peg once you're dealing with 10lbs weights and heavier. Three might technically fit on a peg but may not be as secure from accidentally bumping the stand. Currently storing two 25lbs, two 15lbs, six 10 lbs, and four 5 lbs on all pegs and it's rock solid. This does not feel like it will be at all easy to knock over, but please do be sensible loading and distributing your weights. I will add that this may not be the best solution for areas where small children or pets may have access to this unsupervised. It would take seriously considerable effort to knock or tip this fully loaded rack over, but a partially or improperly loaded rack may be a hazard. If those are not points of consideration for you, and you want an inexpensive but well made product that makes swapping out and accessing plates very easy, buy this. ... show more

This rack works nicely for weight plates. It was simple enough to assemble, and it appears to be solid. I haven't used it for much weight - only a couple hundred pounds. This looks as though it could hold a lot more, if you have larger plates. I don't know how sturdy it would be then. But for my purposes, it's fine. I like that it's "flat." It can be placed relatively near the wall so that it doesn't get in the way. ... show more
