This is a real rubber chicken, like the kind you could find in old school joke shops. My boy loves it. I had gotten him a "rubber chicken" from Walmart.com and it was plastic, and ugly and the head comes off. This is a solid piece of rubber or latex. I think it will last him a long time thanks to the quality. If your dog is super destructive, as with any toys, let them play with it under supervision just in case your poochie manages to tear it up to avoid them ingesting bits of it.

We’ve been using a rubber chicken in one of our stories for almost thirty years. The high quality and flexibility of this chicken/rooster is exactly what we need for replacement purposes. And as a side note, my two labs wanted to have a tug-of-war, so it’s appealing to them as well.

The media could not be loaded. My dog chews everything and this chicken is the only toy I’ve bought that I’ve had longer than 6 months. He chews, plays tug of war, and loves to smack people with it. The “whisper” squeaker was torn out immediately but it’s otherwise held up very well! Definitely purchasing another one.

My Australian Shepherd has several other rubber chickens that squawk loudly when he plays with them. This chicken only makes a soft whistling sound. I returned the first chicken because I thought it was defective, but the replacement doesn't squawk either. The toy seems durable though. I'm just disappointed that my dog can't enjoy the noise.
