A lot of people are complaining about.the keys..... read the directions. Don't be illiterate and talk smack about the product. I ordered, used the key (which doesn't lock and unlock like a front door but like a safe) UNLOCK IT USING THE KEY AND AT SAME TIME turn the lock . . . Duh. Its simple. And then set the lock code and also understand how the lock works as a back up "Override lock" hence its override lock cover lol. It'd a perfect size safe to fit anywhere in the house ... show more

UPDATE: while there are zero instructions on how to remove the key plate, i was able to figure it out after searching youtube. It comes off easily with a screw driver or butter knife. It took a few days for the company to respond only after posting a bad review. I have changed it from 1 to 4 stars. Also: this safe is NOT fire proof. There are holes on the back face for mounting it onto a wall. Had i known that i wouldnt have bought it. I do like the size, the price and the versatikity of a combination or a key. Original post:The instructions provided say open the key cover yet there are no instructions on how to do that. I have read and re read the instructions, went to the website and watched the video that came with it. In no place does it show how to remove the key cover to begin assembly. Since you can't put in a code without batteries and you can't put in batteries without opening it this is insanely stupid. Help! ... show more

Overall, given the cost of the safe, I feel this is a good value. If someone really wants to get into a safe, they will, it's mainly a deterrent against theft or to slow someone down. The safe is easy to use and easy to program, and the instructions are simple and straightforward. I would definitely bolt this down if possible as it is not very heavy. The metal is fairly thin but sturdy. If I had to take a seat on the safe, I wouldn't be worried it would bend or break under my weight. The door has a bit of play in it when locked and closed. You can move it a good centimeter while locked which does make me question the actual tolerances of the lock and bolts on this safe, but not enough to cause me great concern. ... show more

I was looking for a small gun safe to place inside a storage cabinet that I keep my gun spare parts, ammo, and accessories, which is always locked. I have a larger ten gun safe, but needed something for all the extra pistols I’ve accumulated so the 1.5 cubic feet safe fit the bill. I will be securing the safe by running high tensile strength wire through the pre-drilled holes that’s part of the safe and bolting it to the inner cabinet. I also ordered a couple of three pistol upright stands that I placed in the bottom of the safe. I went with two separate holders so I can fit them individually through the safe opening, which one six pistol holder will not fit due the wider dimension. I’ve used the inner upper shelf to store my high end expensive ammunition. This safe isn’t rated for being fire resistant nor is it something a determined thief couldn’t carry out, which is why I’m anchoring it. Plus, the room along with the cabinet is always locked and I have a motion sensor inside the room that is actively monitored by a security company. The safe is more of a deterrent than being burglar proof so having extra security measures in place is a must. Overall it’s sturdy enough and was super simple to set up. Being only 30 lbs also made it easier to place it within my cabinet without breaking my back. I keep all my firearms and ammo locked up except my EDC pistol, which is always on me or sitting on my bedside nightstand while I’m peacefully sleeping… ... show more

I needed a safe. This is light weight, so I definitely made sure to bolt it down. I'm a little unsure of how secure the actual lock is, but I am not going to try to break in. It does the trick in a pinch, in a cost effective way. I've got it bolted down and have cameras on it, so I feel ok with it. Eventually, I'd love to upgrade to a super heavy duty one. It was packed pretty well and arrived with no damage. The locking mechanism worked well and was easy to program. Sheet metal top, bottom, and sides are pretty thin. It comes with one shelf, but the way the ledges are permanently welded to the internal side walls takes up too much space if you don't want to use the shelf. It suits my intended purpose, but I wouldn't store anything of high value in it. I would would say the old adage is probably accurate, "it will keep and honest person honest". ... show more
