Easy to assemble, ultra-lightweight, cool features! I got this bike from Amazon because I was excited to have a bike for my grandson that could be easily converted, without ANY tools, from a balance bike to a pedal bike. I like the idea that this method bypasses the training wheels. I see so many kids with training wheels who are leaning way over to the right or left (not properly balanced), and it doesn't help them learn to turn properly either. This bike solves those problems by providing footrests while the child masters the balance-bike phase. Then it is quickly converted to a pedal bike by simply pressing a button to remove the footrest and attach the pedal. Another feature I really like is the front and rear hand brakes. Balance bikes typically have no brakes. So, the inclusion of hand brakes provides an opportunity for the child to learn how to use them and an extra measure of safety. The bike comes in a large cardboard box. From its size, you expect the box to be heavy, but it’s not. It is easy to lift and transport — a testament to the lightweight materials used in the bike’s construction. It is mostly assembled at the factory, but you still have to install the handlebars, seat, reflectors, bell, plastic nut covers (for the front and rear axles), and rear fender. But, do not be put off by that work; it goes quickly, and I was able to get it completely assembled and top off the tires in about 30 minutes. Also, note that the manufacturer was kind enough to include two Allen wrenches, a User's Manual, and an assembly instruction sheet. The documentation is in plain English and is well-written, i.e., not the typical half-translated instructions on a half-sheet of paper in tiny type that you usually get. If you’re looking for an ultra-lightweight, full-featured, higher-end bike for your child, IMO, this bike is a great option. ... show more

Holy freaking cow. This bike made me want to go back in time and receive it for Christmas myself instead of giving it to my kid! I got the 16 inch silver one and what my son loves the most about it, is the removable pedals. He has always used a strider bike, so when I showed him that this could start out as a strider bike he was absolutely enthralled! I'm hoping that after a few months he will get excited about the pedals to help him go faster and then he will be quick to use the pedals, but that will come when it comes. The look of this bike is super fun, it is pretty lightweight but still very durable and it came mostly assembled so all I had to do was put the handlebars back on. Nothing was missing and my son fits perfectly on the bike so I am happy to give it five stars. ... show more

For a 16" bike it's solid and heavy. It's lighter than a similar RoyalBaby bike we have which makes it a bit easier for a child to muscle around.. What you have to do to fully assemble is very easy. Changing it from a balance bike to a pedal bike is easy with the pop-on/off pedals. The kickstand is a little bit tight and very springy. It's not high end components but they will be fine for the time your child is using this bike. The bell and reflector are a bit cheap. The rear reflector has issues installing. This bike is quick to assemble and the allen wrench needed to install the handlebars comes with it. This fits perfectly for my 4 year old daughter. She was coming from a smaller (16") Royal Baby and was on riding this one immediately with no issues. It looks and feels great. Both our kids got new bikes for Christmas this year and it was so much fun to watch them come downstairs and see these under the tree. This is our son's first bike and it's perfect for him. It converts from a balance bike to a pedal bike, which is a huge upgrade from the old fashioned training wheel bikes from back in the day. He'll be able to go at his own pace and be comfortable learning to balance, while still looking the same as his sister on her big-kid bike. This was easy to assemble, and comes with the Allen wrench, which is all you need. It's almost completely assembled in the box, so there's no expertise needed. My son learned on this bike and it honestly made the whole “learning to ride” thing way less stressful. We started in balance mode, and within a few days he was taking off on his own once we switched it over to pedals. The one-key switch is super convenient (no big project just to change modes). It feels sturdy and safe - the enclosed chain guard is a nice touch and the brakes are easy for smaller hands to use.
