This review is for the Royal Hotel's 1200 Thread Count King Size Goose Down Alternative Comforter. We purchased through Royal Hotel Bedding via Amazon. As everyone knows, it's been a cold winter in the northern hemisphere, so my wife bought a duvet and set about looking for an insert for it. We like the duvet comforters in the Holiday Inn Express chain of motels. While looking for those, we ran across this one offered by Royal Hotel Bedding. After reading many reviews for this one and other duvet inserts, we were careful to order this one from Royal Hotel Bedding since some of the reviews were negative if not bought from Royal Hotel. The comforter arrived quickly and was well packaged in its own zippered storage bag and then in a cardboard box. Following the advice from some reviewers, we immediately washed it in a commercial tumble washer at the local laundromat. This is a very fluffy comforter so make sure you select a large tumble washer. We ran it though two wash cycles. The first with soap and fabric softener. The second with just plain water. Threw it in the dryer, pulling it out occasionally to fluff it out and reinserting it into the dryer to make certain it was well dried and fluffed out. Once dried the fill material evenly distributed. No clumping. No tears to the fabric and no unraveled seams. Everything was intact. The comforter fit perfectly in the duvet. We removed two layers of blankets from the bed, and the duvet with this comforter insert provides more warmth and comfort (less heavy) than what we had before. The wife is very pleased ... and so am I. We are sleeping great. It got down to 12 degrees last night, but we were warm as toast. We are thinking of ordering three more closer to Christmas as gifts for my mom and our two twenty-something kids. This is a quality piece of workmanship. It's clear this company has a mission to succeed by providing a quality product at a very reasonable price and with exceptional customer service. Read the comments and you will see. ... show more

We had an IKEA duvet and two plush velvety blankets from Target on our king bed and I was still cold. The IKEA duvet was too small at 102 inches and barely covered the bed and it was not warm, despite being labeled are "warm" and having 63oz of fill at IKEA. I religiously slept in pants and long sleeves all winter and went half covered through the night because if the size. We got this because of the size mostly, the 100oz fill weight, the gusset edging and the great reviews and holy buckets it is amazing. We ordered 2 others before getting to this one and I'm so glad we kept looking. This is the one you should order! The oversized king is such a great size at 110 inches! Size is perfect for two humans in a king bed. I can finally sleep with a full blanket and so can my partner. It also covers the mattress on the sides when made, finally!! Also we stripped off all other blankets and just use this. I now sleep in a tshirt and honestly I'm a little warm, so I downed the temp in the house to 64 instead of 66 at night (we are in winter in the northern states so I am reducing the temperature the house had to heat to at night). We will have to remove it for upcoming summer season because we would boil in this, but this thing is so great for winter! And again, so fluffy and soft! Also the duvet noise is there but not in the diaper sounding way the other two were tried prior. I would say it's a comforting cotton crinkle vs the loud plasticy diaper sound other have. Why did I wait so long to look for warmer bedding! And the price was unbelievably reasonable for how much I like this! 5 stars! Well done. I'm impressed. UPDATE: still love this duvet, but it's unfortunately too warm for us. We end up switching to a lighter weight one. Which sucks because I love everything about this blanket. We even downed the house temp to 60 degrees in winter and it's still too warm for us. But we hang onto it because it has the most comforting weight, sound and fluff. Maybe someday I'll start running cold and I can whip this out! ... show more

It’s thick and fluffy - the fill is outstanding, just like down. The cotton shell is soft. Unpacked and let it fluff out and then even let it toss around the dryer to puff it up more. UPDATED 12/2/17 - So, in all fairness, I decided to amend my initial review although I was not asked to do so...but kept in my initial review below so everyone knows what happened. The reason I chose to do this is because I was very impressed by the manufacturer and as I said in my initial review (below), our 1st order of this product came with a large stain on it...so we weren't happy and returned it to Amazon.com (although we really liked the comforter in softness, fluff, warmth, feel, and overall quality). However, immediately after the company saw my initial review of what happened, I received a call from a representative of the company apologizing for the condition of the product that arrived at our home from Amazon.com. It's certainly very possible that either the product was damaged at the Amazon.com warehouse and/or the defects or stain possibly caused by it being used before and repackaged/resold by Amazon.com was simply overlooked. After talking with the manufacturer rep, we decided to re-purchase the same comforter and try it again. The new one arrived promptly via Amazon Prime within 2 days...and we're so glad we decided to re-purchase the Royal Hotel Down Alternative Comforter! This one is perfect and we love it!!! Thank you, Royal Hotel!!! :) BTW - Don't buy that "Egyptian Bedding LUXURIOUS King / California King (Cal King) HARD-TO-FIND 90 Oz Fill Weight Goose Down Alternative Comforter, 600 Thread Count 100% EGYPTIAN COTTON Cover, 750 Fill Power, Solid White Color" -- see my review on that one...definitely NOT worth $80 and not even close to the quality, feel, and fluff of this Royal Hotel Alternative Down Comforter!!! I had also read a lot of reviews on this product on Amazon.com as well...noticed 1-2 reviews out of many which mentioned that their Royal Hotel down alternative comforter arrived with STAINS on it...discarded those bad reviews and went with it, thinking that won't happen with our order. Ummm...yeah...it did...large yellowish stains on the all white comforter...GROSS! :( So pissed off, we immediately put it back into the plastic casing and back into the box and returned it to Amazon.com (shipped it back to Amazon.com today actually)...what the heck? Does the manufacturer and/or distributor just sell these things and then accept USED returns only to repackage them and RESELL them???? NOT COOL! It also had a stiff and/or melted side piping on it...again, like it was used and then resold. It's too bad because other than those 2 MAJOR issues, we would've kept it and used it...it's very soft, fluffy and warm! Decent quality too, if not for it being USED or having some serious defects! After dropping it off to UPS for the return, we ordered this one instead (also gets very high ratings across the Internet)... We are one year into using this, and I love it as much as I did when it arrived. Fluffy and cozy, a little warm for summer (upper Midwest), but overall very comfortable year-round. We bought a king for our queen bed, which was the right choice. That does mean washing at a laundromat; it took forever to dry at home. The only problem is that it doesn't have enough duvet cover holes and slides around terribly inside a cover. After fighting with that through two covers, I finally nipped holes in the duvet to match the ties on the cover, sealed the edges with fabric glue, and now it stays in place. I took off one star because it should have come with the holes already in place. ... show more

We all know good product reviews can be bought, so I wanted to share my honest thoughts about this product. The quality of this down alternative comforter is exceptional. The comforter is returnable, so if you are not in agreement, you can simply return it. The amount of alternative down is just right and makes the comforter super fluffy and comfy. The seams are well made. The 300-thread count is perfect for comfort. It arrived well-packaged and without any out-gassing, so no chemical smells emanating from the product. I haven’t washed it yet, but I will say that redistribution of down alternative fill is pretty common. As I wrote before, the seams are well made, so that should help. In addition, to avoid some redistribution, I would just either make sure you have a large washing machine or take it to a laundromat. Lastly, the price was really good for the quality. This duvet insert/comforter is missing TWO of its 4 featured corner loops/ties used to attach it to the inside of a duvet cover. And to make matters worse the 2 loops it has are on the shorter side of the comforter so the insert moves around. Product quality control is lacking!!
