It is incredibly fluffy and luxurious, and is what I would consider to be medium-heavy warmth. Fluffy and warm. Will be removing an extra blanket after sleeping under this warm duvet insert! Very warm. Has weight to it. Removed from packaging and let air for a few days. Washed and hung dry, fluffed up in dryer. Still soft and fluffy! Would recommend. I sleep variable warm and cold. Very nice insert for winter nights.

UPDATED 12/2/17 - So, in all fairness, I decided to amend my initial review although I was not asked to do so...but kept in my initial review below so everyone knows what happened. The reason I chose to do this is because I was very impressed by the manufacturer and as I said in my initial review (below), our 1st order of this product came with a large stain on it...so we weren't happy and returned it to Amazon.com (although we really liked the comforter in softness, fluff, warmth, feel, and overall quality). However, immediately after the company saw my initial review of what happened, I received a call from a representative of the company apologizing for the condition of the product that arrived at our home from Amazon.com. It's certainly very possible that either the product was damaged at the Amazon.com warehouse and/or the defects or stain possibly caused by it being used before and repackaged/resold by Amazon.com was simply overlooked. After talking with the manufacturer rep, we decided to re-purchase the same comforter and try it again. The new one arrived promptly via Amazon Prime within 2 days...and we're so glad we decided to re-purchase the Royal Hotel Down Alternative Comforter! This one is perfect and we love it!!! Thank you, Royal Hotel!!! :) BTW - Don't buy that "Egyptian Bedding LUXURIOUS King / California King (Cal King) HARD-TO-FIND 90 Oz Fill Weight Goose Down Alternative Comforter, 600 Thread Count 100% EGYPTIAN COTTON Cover, 750 Fill Power, Solid White Color" -- see my review on that one...definitely NOT worth $80 and not even close to the quality, feel, and fluff of this Royal Hotel Alternative Down Comforter!!! I had also read a lot of reviews on this product on Amazon.com as well...noticed 1-2 reviews out of many which mentioned that their Royal Hotel down alternative comforter arrived with STAINS on it...discarded those bad reviews and went with it, thinking that won't happen with our order. Ummm...yeah...it did...large yellowish stains on the all white comforter...GROSS! :( So pissed off, we immediately put it back into the plastic casing and back into the box and returned it to Amazon.com (shipped it back to Amazon.com today actually)...what the heck? Does the manufacturer and/or distributor just sell these things and then accept USED returns only to repackage them and RESELL them???? NOT COOL! It also had a stiff and/or melted side piping on it...again, like it was used and then resold. It's too bad because other than those 2 MAJOR issues, we would've kept it and used it...it's very soft, fluffy and warm! Decent quality too, if not for it being USED or having some serious defects! After dropping it off to UPS for the return, we ordered this one instead (also gets very high ratings across the Internet)... Egyptian Bedding LUXURIOUS King / California King (Cal King) HARD-TO-FIND 90 Oz Fill Weight Goose Down Alternative Comforter, 600 Thread Count 100% EGYPTIAN COTTON Cover, 750 Fill Power, Solid White Color. This review is for the Royal Hotel's 1200 Thread Count King Size Goose Down Alternative Comforter. We purchased through Royal Hotel Bedding via Amazon. As everyone knows, it's been a cold winter in the northern hemisphere, so my wife bought a duvet and set about looking for an insert for it. We like the duvet comforters in the Holiday Inn Express chain of motels. While looking for those, we ran across this one offered by Royal Hotel Bedding. After reading many reviews for this one and other duvet inserts, we were careful to order this one from Royal Hotel Bedding since some of the reviews were negative if not bought from Royal Hotel. The comforter arrived quickly and was well packaged in its own zippered storage bag and then in a cardboard box. Following the advice from some reviewers, we immediately washed it in a commercial tumble washer at the local laundromat. This is a very fluffy comforter so make sure you select a large tumble washer. We ran it though two wash cycles. The first with soap and fabric softener. The second with just plain water. Threw it in the dryer, pulling it out occasionally to fluff it out and reinserting it into the dryer to make certain it was well dried and fluffed out. Once dried the fill material evenly distributed. No clumping. No tears to the fabric and no unraveled seams. Everything was intact. The comforter fit perfectly in the duvet. We removed two layers of blankets from the bed, and the duvet with this comforter insert provides more warmth and comfort (less heavy) than what we had before. The wife is very pleased ... and so am I. We are sleeping great. It got down to 12 degrees last night, but we were warm as toast. We are thinking of ordering three more closer to Christmas as gifts for my mom and our two twenty-something kids. This is a quality piece of workmanship. It's clear this company has a mission to succeed by providing a quality product at a very reasonable price and with exceptional customer service. Read the comments and you will see.

I am editing this review. The seller reached out to me directly and kindly offered a replacement at no cost or return of the defective comforter. Although I was unable to reach them by phone and Amazon direct wasn’t able to assist, the seller clearly reads their reviews. I greatly appreciate the assistance I received from their customer service team. I left off one star only due to the defect. Otherwise the comforter is perfect and a great replacement for my regular goose down. I ordered this comforter a little over a month ago. When I received it I followed all of the instructions to fluff it up however, not all the boxes appeared to be filled. I continued to see if I could disperse the filling to the other boxes and I couldn’t. I thought I could just live with it since it’s really nice in the squares that are filled, but now it’s winter and cold. Unfortunately, I wasted $80 and will need to purchase something elsewhere. Do not buy from this company. I tried calling and left a voicemail, but it went unanswered. You aren’t even able to contact the seller via Amazon. I’m all for giving people another chance, but it seems as though this particular seller doesn’t care about their customers.
