An iron with no temperature dials was strange. The ability to automatically change the temp based on what material was used seemed like a gimmick. But it's not a gimmick. It actually works ans have had no issues with fabric getting damage. It produces a lot of steam which I love, you just need to put more water in but its not a hassle. I almost never write reviews but had to for this. Spits and spews water, steam is working one minute not the next and not great even when it does work. There is no option for different temperatures, it is either on normal or eco and those options are impossible to read or figure out due to placement under the handle and color of the iron. The water gauge on the side is black tinted plastic so you also can't see how much water there is...when it's full or when it's running out. I tried giving this a chance and now too late to return. It's useless. My 2nd Rowenta...first one I had for 20+ years from QVC and it was fine but really nothing special. Now this. I used a cheap iron recently at a hotel that works great! This is the second Rowenta steam iron I’ve owned my first one was so great that when I dropped it and broke it I had to get another one. However this one is not as good as my first one, it will leak on your clothes, which is very disappointing. My first one was much better. This still does a nice job of ironing, I just wish it didn’t leak ... show more

I had a similar iron by Rowenta and used it for several years. Unfortunately, I dropped it and the water container cap broke. I searched on-line and found this iron here at amazon, which is similar to the previous one. It was delivered on-time and in secure packaging. And, it works the same as the previous iron. I don't know how, but this iron does sense the type of fabric and adjusts the heat accordingly. I used it this weekend to do a bulk of ironing for the week and it worked perfectly.
