Works very well, as expected. Heavy but necessary to get the job done. A bit unintuitive for locking it in collapsed position, and you need to keep track of the set screw when using it but was able to work through three good well-seasoned 32" oak stumps in about 40 minutes.

In thought I'd take a chance, as the "powered" splitters were really expensive. It arrived and about a week later I tried it. I am so very much impressed. What a simple concept, and what a great price. I ordered it, and it arrived earlier than expected. I split 5 logs in about 5 minutes. Little effort required too, and so much safer that the gas or electric splitters. Ya need a splitter? This is the one. Great product for a great price. I read some of the other reviews, so I bought the additional warranty. I believe it is four years for four dollars. A great gamble.

I got this to split a lot of large pieces of wood from a fallen tree. As the picture shows, I was able to use it split an 18" log in two in about 3 minutes. It took another ~5 minutes to split the two pieces into 7 pieces. It's a lot of work, but I can split logs faster than with my electric log splitter that trips the breaker every third try, and it's a lot cheaper. I haven't had any problems with bending that others have reported. It splits faster than my axe or maul and doesn't get stuck as often as those do. I took one star off for how much my shoulders hurt after using it for half an hour.

I had one of these years ago . Every now and then I would break the wedge off trying to pry the split wood apart . Don't do that and it will probably last forever .

The product is great 5 star. Northern tool is great also. Fed Ex sucks. Delivers to the he wrong place and drivers lie on reporting problems delivering.

Great concept, works great, but.... After second use the wedge bent out of shape now useless on all but soft pine. Wedge steel does not seem to be hardened.

I just tried this for the first time, and it's awesome. I was able to split 3 logs in under 5 minutes that had been taking up space in my log rack for at least two years. Can't wait to split more logs and easier than using a maul. I was told at a store to not waste my money on this - glad I ignored that bit of advice.
