  • Jeez
Been years since i put a set uh dees on my pee bass Sweet Pianoesque tones radiating outta my rig never returning to the dull notes of the flatwounds on the slabs

  • Growl, Full tone and not hard on fingers.
I was Alway PBass player. Never actually enjoyed the Jazz Bass. However, I ended up getting one. G&L Jazz. Great looking and plays well. The only thing it disappointed me with, was the sounds it created for bass. Way to mellow and missing something for excitement. It had the G&L strings on it and some one suggested Smith strings. Neither one excited the tone. Well, I always used Rotosound strings on all my Pbass's so I went for a set. This set because I remember this gauge being slightly bolder than their lighter gauges. BAM ! That was what it needed. Played the dam Jazz for over an hour and it is now a pleasure to play. I Highly recommend these strings. Not too heavy, great overall tone and not bad on the fingers. Glad I put these on. ... show more

  • Not as bright as I thought they would be, but bright enough for me.
Purchased 2 hybrid sets 100-80-60-40, one for Gibson Thunderbird, one for Rickenbacker 4003. They sound and feel great on both. They are not as bright/harsh as I thought they would be and are a good fit sound-wise for both basses. Would buy these again!

  • What does a rotosound sound like?
These things sound awfully bright. I'm enjoying them, though I may be partial to steel flatwounds (purely personal preference and in no way an implication that these are somehow of lesser quality). Some of my bass heroes endorse these, so I figured I'd give them a shot, and I'm certainly not disappointed. If you want a more subdued, mellow tone, try flatwounds. ... show more

  • Stainless steel bass strings are the way to go.
Good, dependable strings. Bright and resonant 'twang' with piano-like tone. Stainless steel is better than any other composition for slap bass and other funk styles.

  • my string of choice
I use them with a rick. they have just the right clang for it. be aware that you will probably have to change these more often, I usually get 2 months out of them but for me the tone is worth it
