  • Interested in getting a laser? This is the one to get.
Size: Mk2 20W
The media could not be loaded. I first heard about this machine from Rich The Louisiana Hobby Guy on Youtube. He reviewed the machine, interviewed the owner, and made presets for almost any material you can think of and made them available. Which sped up dialing in settings tremendously. The machine was easy to setup (this is my first laser and I'll keep going to Roly for my lasers in the future) even with coffee breaks it took about 30 mins. A flash drive comes with it and a Lighburn library for machine settings (all that you would have to do manually on other machines) already to go. Just load library for Lightburn and the machine is setup. The only thing remaining is to calibrate the camera. And that took no time at all. I can not speak highly enough about this Laser, the company, and the support. All top notch. In Rich's video he speaks about precision. He's correct. For repeatable, accurate results precision is key. Sure you can get cheaper lasers and this a 10 watt. But, they would not have the features and support. IMHO it was worth my wait and to spend a little more to get one that is enclosed, great quality, repeatable precision, and unmatched support. Uploaded a sample video of it in action. This was my second test burn. It's a file from Rich using his settings. Took me longer to sort out where in our craft room to put it and route the duct and wires than to setup and start using. ... show more

  • Highly recommended
Size: Mk2 20W
This is an excellent diode laser. It is very well built and comes completely assembled. Additionally the support for Lasermatic is nothing short of amazing. Set up was instant with no issues. It literally comes with everything that you need.

  • A quality product update
Size: Mk2 20W
it's early days (only 2 weeks) use so far, I've used it to cut and engrave wood and found it performs well. As this is my first laser system and still on a learning curve, I feel I made the right decision to purchase this model. The unit arrived in a few days and extremely well packed, it entailed a little assembly with basic tools, working from the well documented manual no problems were encountered. All assembly hinged around the gantry and the enclosure and a few connections. Having spent 43 years in medical instrumentation business I found the quality and finish to be impressive. Main point, I had emailed a question for Roly which was answered the next day, now this is true after sales service. It's now been over two weeks since getting this unit and even more impressed with it's ease of use and performance. I've tried engraving and cutting wood, engraving slate and stainless steel case in point not many in this price range allows use on SS but this unit you are able to change the frequency (as explained in the manual). I particularly like the screw Z adjustment with a positive lock and the ability to use the supplied rotary which is located on pegs mounted on the bottom plate. I guess I should also mention the built-in camera when used in conjunction with Lightburn makes it so straightforward to align artwork to the work piece without any trial and error. For the skeptic, I did pay full price for it, this was NOT a freebee. UPDATE 6/4/2023 It's now several weeks I've been using this unit and I'm even more impressed and confident I made the right decision, so far the only problem I've had is poor extraction of smoke and fumes this was resolved by Roly on supplying a more powerful fan which I understand will be standard on all units going forward. As stated, I'm a beginner in the laser etching world and my experience and comfort is growing daily. Lightburn used in conjunction with this laser unit is a perfect combination and I've found so much helpful information on-line to shorten the learning curve. August 21, 2023 I now have several months using this product and continue to be amazed not only with the quality of build but more recently the performance, I had cut 100mm/4" wide butterflies from 3mm ply and now tried seeing how small I could get without loss of detail see attached picture shown with scale, the small through holes are 0.47mm or 0.019". ... show more

  • Very easy to set up and use
Size: Mk2 20W
Update: Originally 1 star due to shipment issues (only 1 out of 2 boxes arrived), but those got resolved in few days. This laser cutter (got 20w version) so far has been very impressive. This is my first time using any cutter and the setup was straight forward with no room to make mistakes. Took less than 30 minutes start to finish to get set-up, and start test cuts via LightBurn. Cutter itself feels well made. You can tell by the quality of parts and materials they used, including the packaging and how accurately things fit. ... show more

  • Impressive machine
Size: Mk2 20W
I bought this cutter / engraver after watching a YouTube video by the Louisiana Hobby Guy where he waxed poetic on how well made it is. He was not lying. It’s a very well made and attractive machine. I’m a complete noob to laser engravers and I have never used GRBL or Lightburn (the software most people use with their lasers). However I am a design professional and am very familiar with Autocad, fusion 360, etc so learning the software took about a day. It’s not that difficult to use, but like all software it has its quirks. Assembling and starting up the laser cutter took less than an hour thanks to the unit being mostly assembled and the provided very good instructions The laser ships with a material library and a light burn setup file that really make putting it into service remarkably painless and easy. I was a little concerned it would have trouble cutting through the 6-8 oz leather I was using, but absolutely no problem. Overall I’d say very easy to set up and use while also being a top quality machine. Very definitely worth the price. Edit: I recently purchased the 20W laser upgrade to this unit and it was a painless, easy effort to swap out the old 10 W laser. The new laser head is a lot bigger than the old laser head, so you lose about 10 mm of working area on the Y axis, but other than that, the additional power is very useful. I had no problems cutting through a 3/8" thick piece of pine, which will make the laser useful for a lot more activities. ... show more
