  • Knife sharpener
This is a pretty cool device. It worked well for my knives, kitchen knives, and my filet knife. I would buy again if need be, but it seems to be a very sturdy product. So hopefully I don't have to buy another one anytime soon. Thank you.

  • Sharp Knives
Not expensive, & it works ! Knives are sharper

  • Great quality, works well, seems way more expensive that it's price.
Beautifully crafted, definitely high quality. I was intrigued by the design, and I would say that it is an excellent concept. I've been sharpening my own knives since for decades since I was a kid, and I have just never been able to do it well with a flat stone. It's an art and I just don't have the knack for it. And I've tried a hundred different gizmos, some work, most don't. But this is very well conceived and actually works quite well. Again, let me mention the craftsmanship. This is actually REALLY nice out of the box. Give it as a gift to someone you really like and it looks and feels high end. It feels WAY more expensive that it is, and this one was a lot cheaper than similar rolling sharpeners that I've seen. In fact, I think it's the cheapest one I've seen, but the lower price does not reflect the quality AT ALL! As clever as it is, it does take a little practice to get the hang of. It's easier to use on larger knives that are wide enough to sit flat on the table and still stick up higher than the angle block. But it can still be used on thinner blades. And it takes a bit of getting used to how to hit the points as they start to curve down (and therefore away from the sharpener). But with that said, it works GREAT and easily. With just a few passes with each grit on each side, you're cutting paper easily. Even without stropping. To be honest, I'm not sure if stropping is required or even suggested with this set up. I'm still practicing with it and getting better, but I haven't felt a bur or a wire yet. Some expert can chime in a set me straight. And again, I'm still practicing and getting better with it. In just a few passes I've easily got a blade that cuts cleanly through paper. I'm not quite getting a real, hair shaving edge yet, but I think that's a matter of practice. The angle block it magnetic and holds the blade well without any sliding or wiggling. It was two different angles on each end for whatever blade you're using. And the roller has two different diamond grits at either end. The course end works fast, so be judicious. The finer end will have it gliding smoothly in just a few passes. Also, it wasn't clear to me from the listing, but the wooden handle on the roller is on bearings, so it really does roll smoothly with the slightest effort. And the rubber wheels on the outside grip enough so that the hone rolls, but also allow you to slide the roller laterally as the tip of the blade starts to curve down. That's part of the learning curve I think. In short: great product, super high quality, great price. I'd recommend 10 times out of 10. ... show more

  • Not sharp
Not working well with my kitchen knives. Not sharp after sharpening them. My knife got dull after one cut.

  • Nice Tool Once You Get The Sharpening Technique Down Pat
This is a simple tool that uses an unusual technique to sharpen knives. The knife holding block is magnetized on both ends, one with a 15 degree slant, and the other side with a 20 degree face. So I removed the protective caps on the sharpening roller and discovered that the edge of each side of it has a rubber gasket embedded into a metal groove that holds it firmly in place. I took 2 pairing knifes and attached them, one at a time, to the edge of the magnetized holding block with about a 1/16th gap between the knife edge and the bottom of the block on the 15 degree side. I did this to keep the knife edge slightly clear of the top the countertop that the block was resting on. This way, the sharpened edge wouldn’t be subjected to scraping during any movements of the block while I rolled the sharpening roller against the blades. Then I moved the roller back and forth some 20 times on each side of the blade to fine tune said knives that were already somewhat sharp. When done, I tested the sharpness against the edge of the shipping box the unit came in and the honed blade sliced nicely through the thick cardboard. This was after I tested each knife before the sharpening process and couldn’t make the same type of cut. They are nicely made and very easy to use and I have chosen to leave them out on the countertop in front of my kitchen knives storing blocks. PS: You can reverse the block and set the rubber feet down on the countertop so that you can have the blade facing upwards while rolling the honing wheel back and forth, but I found this to be somewhat dangerous as your fingers are right next to the exposed blade and can easily be sliced open if your hand slips. My method works just as well without the risk of injuring yourself. ... show more

  • Nifty knife sharpening tool
This is the first sharpener of this type that I've used. Largely made of wood, the sharpener has a nice appearance and the included box is suitable for storage when not in use. The instructions were simple enough, I was able to use it right away and the results are very promising. My kitchen knives are nothing fancy, one of those multi-colored sets with varying blade types. I was able to put a very sharp edge on one of the older knives with just a few seconds of use. The sharpening surfaces seem fairly aggressive, so I almost worry that I'm hurting the edge of my blades... at least until I get the technique down. The magnetic block has both 15 and 20 degree angles. To get the best results, it definitely helps to know which one is best for your knife. I had never considered the angle of the blade edge, so that part was educational. The sharpening log has rubber rings for smooth rolling. However, these rings left black marks on the surface I was rolling on... that did not come off easily. I still need to hone my technique but I am pretty happy with this sharpener. ... show more
