I always liked this watch. I bought it as a present for myself to celebrate screwing over my ex partner. He tried to frame me for his embezzlement but he's the mutt cooling his heels in some Federal kiddy camp. I loved showing it off,cuz you know it certainly gives off that certain ostentatious jealousy that proves to other guy that he's a loser. I loved it. It proved that I am a h top dog, until the Gypsies knocked on my door. I did not know they were Gypsies but young man, a child almost, not on my door and said that they'd patch some holes in my parking lot with some left over asphalt. The angelic faced man assured me that not only would I get a quality job but because the asphalt was leftover and they were working around the corner that I'd save some money. Well, they fixed my holes and didn't rip me off like I thought they might, so I asked about maybe adding onto the parking lot. That's when the boys son came to see me, and he brought some of his cousins. And each one of those adult men were sporting a Rolex watch. I almost gagged and felt faint, and offered no resistance to silver tongued Gypsy asphalt peddler. They did not cheat me. In fact, they did an excellent job and I have been a reference for them. I think that I am lucky because these Gypsies live around here and may find it easier to scam when out of town.     • perhaps the most beautiful watch ever made
This is my opinion of course. So let me explain it. Beautiful here means the integration of high quality engineering and elegance. 18 Kt gold and stainless steel. Designed to be waterproof to a thousand feet, not susceptible to electromagnetic field interference, and virtually shockproof. The story i heard was that a mountaineer dropped his piton hammer, and had to use his watch to hammer in a piton. It destroyed the watch. Somehow it made it into Rolex design specs to make a watch which could withstand hammering in a piton with it. I thought this was an outrageous but intriguing claim. Being a practicing scientist, i tried with my first Rolex. It worked. To verify it worked according to Rolex standards, it took it to the Rolex Building in Manhattan. Aside from a few scratches on the crown, which they replaced, it worked perfectly, and is still working today. I needed another Rolex, since i want to leave each of my daughters a Rolex, so i got the submariner. I have not verified that it is waterproof to 1000 feet. My wife gave me this watch after our engagement. To keep it short, i have paid for three repairs due to very nasty vibrations that occur when i moving my arm while wearing the watch. These have totaled for more than 1k dollars. I'm thinking my son's Lego Yoda watch works better, last longer and has a lower cost of ownership. The Rolex is going into the safe deposit box. My grandpa's watch from 1920 is stepping up. Very disappointed. ... show more
