    • Well worth the investment!
Roland's FP-30X has been a game changer for me since I received it. I originally had a Williams Allegro III as my first (beginner) piano. Unfortunately, it just sat there for a few years, with the exception of a few minutes once in a blue moon, until this year came around and I began to learn piano consistently. I have been enjoying the process of learning to play the piano so much that I felt comfortable investing in a more expensive instrument (and since I now have a solid habit for practicing regularly, lol). Pros: The piano was a bit of an investment, but the value I've gotten out of this piano has already paid for itself and more! It has the ability to record directly to my phone with a USB-B-to-USB-C cable, connects to my phone via Bluetooth for output or to modify settings on the piano if desired, has many different voices that enhances songs differently. The feel of the weighted keys are really great too. It has the ability to modify how hard key presses must be for different output. The overall sound produced by the instrument is pleasing to my ears. It is a little brighter than some of the competitors, but to each their own. Although the onboard speakers are decent, I assure you, it sounds better once recorded (or via external speakers if you can afford them). The size of the piano is perfect if you want to practice a full-size instrument, and the weight isn't bad. However, I don't carry mine around and only keep it in one spot. Lastly, the quality of the instrument is great. I hope it lasts for many years to come. Cons: The onboard speakers aren't great and they're downward facing. Sometimes the sound from the speakers doesn't sound right to me, but again, it always sounds good when it's recorded directly. The only other con I've found is, for just a few keys, I sometimes hear a slight plastic-like sound when I press down and let up on a couple keys here/there. It hasn't affected my playing in any ways, but I know it's there when I'm practicing quietly. There's a slight reverb to some of the voices (e.g., Concerto voice) even with Ambiance turned off while using a pedal, but it does sometimes enhance some pieces. And lastly, I wish Roland would have shipped this with a fully functional pedal (i.e., Roland DP-10) instead of the cheesy on/off pedal that my Williams also came with. For this kind of money, that was a bit of a let down to have to spend another ~$50. But the pedal is absolutely a must. All-in-all, I'm extremely happy with my purchase and hope it lasts a long time! ... show more

    • Entry Level Piano With Professional Level Performance
This Keyboard is absolutely amazing. I've owned Roland Keyboards exclusively for many years and prefer them to any other keyboards I've played. When I bought my first entry level Roland it was just exactly that, an entry level keyboard with entry level action and feel. It had great sounds but the action was very basic. I enjoyed it and played it all the time. My children even took their piano lessons and practiced on it. I played it until it simply wore out from use and then graduated to a much more professional roadworthy stage keyboard and later bought another one similar to it. I bought this FP-30X for my daughter's family based solely on information gathered from reviews and informative videos. Everything I read and watched stressed the above entry-level performance and sound of the keyboard. I took a chance and ordered it without ever seeing one or playing it. (something I've never considered doing before) After having it shipped to my daughter's home and her receiving it, we went for a visit and tried it out. I was absolutely amazed by the way it played and sounded. It has an action that rivals or exceeds my professional level stage units. The sound is beyond anything I thought could be achieved with an electronic piano. It has simple but very useful controls. Not a lot of clutter and loads of sounds that are not needed for a young beginner or even someone just wanting a great sounding and remarkably natural feeling keyboard for a home piano. There are simple easy to understand controls that allow you to quickly and effectively tweak the sound to achieve that perfect tonal quality for your room and playing environment. I believe if such a keyboard had been available when I purchased my first Roland years ago it would still be my keyboard of choice and I would still be playing it instead of having found it necessary to advance to the higher level ( and much more expensive) professional stage keyboards I now own. ... show more

My son & I love our new piano. I had watched countless video reviews on so many models. Most reviewers kept coming back to the Roland FP-30X as the best option for under $1000. I still cannot get over how good the keyboard feels. Cannot recommend this model enough!
