Definitely worth the price! Easy to connect and works wonderfully

  • This is nice because...
Style: Roku Voice Remote
It has volume control, which is a great add to a basic Roku remote. The only nit is that it works alongside your TV's remote control if you have a Roku soundbar, as I do. That means that you'll get echo if both volumes are up simultaneously, though I could be technically deficient and missing something! This also has four pre-set streaming service which - I read this - you cannot change. For instance, mine has Netflix, Disney, Apple, and Hulu, and I presently only have 2 of those. However, in addition, there are two other buttons that you can program to open up your two other favorite streaming services. The other great upgrade is the headphone jack, and it comes with earbuds, purple, but those can fall off as one of mine did, to the netherworld of my "stuff." Fortunately, others work fine. On the questionable area is that the batteries seem to wear down uber fast. While the experts don't typically recommend using rechargeable in TV remotes, this one may be an exception. ... show more

  • Only if you link everything
Style: Roku Voice Remote
The voice only worked if you link it to your TV. We tried finding the remote once and the function didn't work. After finding the remote we realized we didn't link it when we bought it

  • Real Roku and voice search works
Style: Roku Voice Remote
1) Layout is Good So first of all this is a real Roku remote that's a perfect replacement for the remote that came with my TCL Roku TV. All the buttons are in the same place with two exceptions: The voice search button is added in between the back arrow and star button and the the preset buttons were arranged two rows of two instead of vertical. That said, this upgraded remote was made with a feel so similar to the original remote that I needed 0 time to become accustom to the new layout. 2) False Advertising Regarding Preset Buttons So if you're like me, you see the blank preset buttons in the product photos, and think "finally, I'm rid of useless presets and can set my own." Nope! The four presets came loaded with Netflix, Parmount Plus, and two services that I don't have: Disney Plus and Apple TV. This what I hated most about the original remote which had a preset for Amazon Prime and Netflix, but also included Sling and CBS News (seriously it did) which I didn't have. Roku, let me choose presets when ordering the remote if I can't set them myself instead of sending me remotes with the presets apparently randomly chosen! 3) Pairing was Easy I'm the type who reads the instructions, but they were short and simple. Go to the Roku home screen. Put the batteries in, and press the pairing button located in the battery compartment until the indicator light in the battery compartment flashes green. I didn't even get to pressing the pairing button. As soon as the batteries in, the indicator starting flashing, and the word "pairing" started flashing on my TCL Roku TV. Within seconds I had a second working Roku remote (and the other one continues to work too so I can use either now). 4) Voice search works I was a little concerned that this feature wouldn't work well given the inexpensive price, but it does! I can request to open a particular Roku App like Amazon Prime or Youtube, but I am also able to use voice to navigate around inside of an App. So for example, 1) I was able to use the voice feature to go to Netflix, and then open a particular show inside of Netflix; and 2) I was able to use voice to go to Youtube, and then specifically request by voice to open my Watch Later list. Oh... and you can search out a particular show from the home menu with voice so you can simply say "House of the Dragon" and it will pull up options to watch it. Overall: I was disappointed by the presets were pre-populated, but at least Roku didn't stick CBS News on one of them this time. I was surprised at how well the voice function works as it makes finding programs so much easier. Overall, this is worth the relatively inexpensive price to upgrade your Roku experience, and I really wish I had seen a mention sooner that Roku voice remotes existed. ... show more

  • Simple, but An Occasional Glitch
Style: Roku Voice Remote
I love the simplicity of the Roku remotes. The remote for my LG TV has more than 40 fussy buttons. Something like muting the TV is easy with the Roku. Not so with the LG. The voice feature works fairly well, but can't always find programming on my subscription services. As another reviewer mentioned, there can be annoying glitches. Trying to make a minor adjustment in volume at, say, 18 percent might occasionally cause the remote to blare at 80+ percent. Other times, I'll press the Back/Rewind button and it will lock up rewinding back to the beginning of the show. I doubt it's my WiFi (1 Gb fiber optic) because I can immediately pick up the LG remote and it works fine plus my phone doesn't show the WiFi is down. The Roku will reset itself after a few minutes. Happens regardless of whether batteries are new and I can't yet identify a pattern for the misbehavior. ... show more

  • Doesn't activate my sound bar
Style: Roku Voice Remote
I thought that buying a gen-u-wine Roku remote would ensure proper functionality, but this is a disappointment. My other remotes, even the cheap knock-offs, work with the Insignia sound bar I use with my Insignia Roku TV. This one doesn't. It operates differently: the other remotes work as soon as you put batteries in; this one has to be paired with the TV first. Maybe that accounts for the difference in functionality, I dunno. I suppose the voice-control feature might compensate but to be honest I feel stupid talking to a remote control, so I haven't warmed up to that yet. I will say that the ergonomics are good, the cheapie knock-offs I have aren't the right shape so the volume and mute buttons on the side are really hard to operate - but they do a fine job of activating the sound bar. Update 2/17/2023 - I'm changing my rating of this remote to a 5. I decided to upgrade my 3rd party sound bar to a pair of ROKU wireless speakers - which also get a 5 rating but the point here is that this remote works flawlessly with both the Roku TV and the new Roku speakers. So now that functionality is no longer an issue I can enjoy the superior ergonomics of the remote. Well worth the price. ... show more
