  • What a powerful little monster!
Style: Black | 16 | 1T | RTX 2070
**1-year Review** So, I've been owning this laptop for almost a year now and my impression has not changed. Solid laptop for work, gaming, and coding. The touchpad has a few glitches here and there with the zoom-in gesture but that doesn't bother me most of the time. Since the purchase, I've upgraded the storage to 2 GBs and RAM to 32 GBs (which is solely for the purpose I use the laptop for). If you just want to use this laptop to play games and do school work (or pretty much 95% of the jobs out there), the stock performance is more than enough. Overall, I still recommend 10/10. If the laptop gets hot and the fans bother you then I'd recommend you get the KLIM laptop cooler (costs about $30). All problems solved. I've had this laptop for 4 months now and I gotta say I am very impressed. Yes, fans are loud but this is a thin and light laptop so it doesn't have room to put in additional heat sinks like a thicker, regular laptop. At the end of the day, you can only fight physics so much. The performance is excellent. I hook this up to a 43'' super-ultrawide monitor for work (and occasionally gaming) and this little laptop handles with no problem. I can play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare at max settings on the 43'' inch monitor and get 70+ FPS most of the time. I think if you use this laptop for gaming, 16 gb of ram should be plenty. For me personally, I use it mostly for work and always run multiple sheets of excels + a heavy financial software, and I had to upgrade to 32 gb ram. The keyboard can be customized to per-key RGB and you'll have to download software from Asus for it. I personally didn't care much, so no complaint there. Battery-life: I work on the plane with the laptop all the time and the battery usually lasts about 5 hours. With that said, I don't spend a lot of time watching Youtube or gaming on battery, so I don't know how long the battery would last under those applications. Would recommend buy 10/10. Only complaint is that Asus should get rid of the "Republic of Gamers" logo and the sound (which you can turn off) when booting up. Some people, like me, need a decently powerful laptop for work so gaming laptops are the way to go, but I don't need to have that logo showing up when I start my computer in front of other professionals..... ... show more

  • Powerful, portable, light weight
Style: Black | 16 | 1T | RTX 2070
So I have been wanting a new laptop for awhile now, finally got around to looking for one. I had a Alienware 17R2 from 2010, so this is a huge difference for me and a major upgrade. The difference in graphics is night and day. When I play my regular games I notice the fans are on full speed, but that doesn't bother me. My wife and daughter says it sounds like someone left the water running, but informed them its just the fans on the laptop. The laptop does get pretty warm, so I would recommend a cooling pad, I just ordered one. Making sure the pad blows air up, and location of fans are near the top row as that's where the laptop vents are sucking in air. The laptop is light weight and very portable. I do worry about the screen/lid though, it seems very thin and could be damaged when thrown into your backpack/laptop case without keeping in mind what else you throw in with it. Like the power supply, that thing is a brick, so I make sure to put it in another compartment, don't want it pushing down on the laptop during travel. Price wise, me personally its worth it for the power and size. I plan to add more storage and maybe upgrade the RAM, not a need just a want. Only had it for a week, so if anything changes, I will update. ... show more

  • ASUS Support Is Terrible
Style: Black | 16 | 1T | RTX 2070
Laptop and tech is fantastic. This thing is powerful for what it has, and one of the thinnest laptops for gaming I've ever seen. The display is beautiful and bright, and it is matte so you don't get weird shiny annoyances in daily use. The keyboard has a good spring to it and is easy to do work on and game on of course, though they had plenty of room to have included a numeric keypad which would have really been useful. KEY issue -- the power supply started going out (they will ALWAYS do that on any gaming laptop - the heat kills them, and if you are gaming on a "gaming" laptop, of course you will kill the power supply faster because it is running hot while gaming as it is pushed to its limit). Guess what - YOU CAN'T FIND A REPLACEMENT ANYWHERE!!!! There are a lot of knockoffs online, but I am hesitant to trust at $50 knockoff on a $2,000 laptop. ASUS refuses to send me a replacement unless I go through their entire RMA process. And they refuse to sell me a new one. I offered to pay for a new one despite my laptop being under warranty, and they refuse. I found a weird website out of Spain that appears to sell the right model for my Zephyrus M GU502GW model. The AC adapter you need is the ADP-230GB B model. Let's see if that works. If not, ASUS' solution is to let the A/C brick itself and then force an RMA. What if this wasn't under warranty? Would they simply refuse to do anything and leave the laptop itself as a dead brick? ASUS SUPPORT'S PROCESS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Beware, laptop is fantastic until something starts failing, and then the other reviews here about their support are 100% accurate. ... show more
