Extremely impressed with the quality of this laptop. Very solid but yet lightweight and thin profile. Performance has been excellent so far with quiet and powerful graphics . My first AMD based laptop and very impressed with the Ryzen 9 4000 speed and low power consumption, prolonging battery performance. Just an FYI, this model has 8GB soldered on the motherboard at 3200MHZ and Samsung SODIMM DDR4 8GB RAM 3200MHZ in the single ram expansion slot. If you want more than 16GB total ram, you have to replace the 8GB ram with a larger one purchased separately, The keyboard and lighting (only white background color) is excellent and heavy duty. Pros: Lightweight, its under 5 lbs. Extremely slim and sleek Ryzen 4900S is a beast of a processor, leaps and bounds better than my previous I7 7700HQ. Runs extremely cool. RTX 2060 MQ handles any game you throw at it. Cons: Wished the processor was paired up with the RTX 2070 MQ instead. 2070 is a more powerful card. Addressing Overheating Issues: There are a several reviews complaining about the extreme heating problems that some are having with this laptop. Its unfortunate however I can personally say for the RTX 2060/AMD 4900S system, this one does not OVERHEAT at all. Matter of fact its the complete opposite. The laptop runs no higher than 71C for the GPU and 70C for the processor *this is stock temps, no added cooling.* My advice, pair your notebook up with an external fan and a Kooltek laptop cooler *Look at the above picture on how I set this up.* With these two paired up, my laptop runs no higher than 67-68C under load and benchmark. I game literally for hours on this laptop, and the temp remains under 70C. Even colder than 67C depending on the ambient temperatures (i.e. your room temp.) ... show more

    • An excellent laptop with a questionable but fixable design flaw
Style: GA502IV-PH96
The build is excellent, it looks and feels great. The screen is easily the best laptop screen I’ve ever used and the color accuracy is great (I didn’t even need to use my screen calibrator, it is that good). The design is sleek, feels high quality and generally a pleasure to use. Performance is excellent with a caveat - the laptop is very hot. There are two fan vents on the bottom plate and the are BLOCKED OFF with two thin pieces of plastic. Asus apparently has said this is to divert heat from the keyboard however this severely restricts airflow inside the case and causes such high temperatures that the keyboard still gets how and causes fan use even when idling and heavy fan use as well as 90+ degree temps while gaming or doing anything intensive. There is a fix but it will void your warranty and that is to simply remove the bottom plate and take off the thin flimsy vent blocks. This alone drastically improves performance since with the vent blocks the system will throttle due to the high temperatures. There is another thing that will help but it takes going into the registry to change the behavior of the cpu boost and enable Efficient Aggressive boost mode. Info on that can be found on Reddit if you don’t know how to do it. So with that said, after those changes it is an excellent laptop with great performance considering how light and thin it is. I am very happy with it now but how many stars should be removed for such an idiotic decision to block the fan vents, and to not actually have the option for a still powerful but more efficient boost mode? It’s a deal breaker imo considering the high temps with the fan vents blocks in place but I like the laptop so much otherwise that I just took off one star for the questionable design decision since it is a simple remedy. If I wasn’t on the tech savvy side, wasn’t comfortable going inside the case (and knowing how to edit the registry, though just removing the vent blocks is enough to lower temps drastically) I would likely not be happy with this laptop because it ran so hot that more than a couple seconds touching it would have burned me. After the changes though it runs 10-20 degrees lower at all times and doesn’t throttle at all...a shame they couldn’t ship the laptop in this state because it is so good but I know a large amount of users will never find this info or will not be comfortable making these changes themselves. My only other complaint is no fn lock so all of the fn keys are more inconvenient to access...seems like an oversight there. If you are willing to take the time to address the above issues yourself then this is an easy decision to buy. If not then think carefully about the temperature issues because you will have them if leaving the laptop stock. ... show more

I bought this laptop just a month and I barely used it because I have to work almost full-time during this summer. I only used this to play games and watch youtube. This laptop usually freezes, sometimes shows a black screen when I open facebook, youtube, or play Teamfight Tatics from league of legends (it is a game that even the weak laptop can play). Also if I play a game while Bluestack opens, my screen is kinda messed up (the picture I included), and the only way to fix it is I have to turn off either the game or bluestack. ... show more

The only thing I was surprised about is the memory configuration. It has 8gb soldered to the MB and a 8gb memory card in the socket. I added a 16gb card and now have 24gb total. I checked with Asus, and verified it will take a 32gb card for a total of 40gb Ram. Everything thing else is exactly as expected, and the specs are far better than any other $1300 laptop available at the time of purchase. I have owned over a dozen gaming laptops in my life. This is the first time I feel as though something met and in fact exceeded my expectations. It does run hot, though not overly so. Ryzen 4000 series is so battery efficient while also giving great performance. I am beyond impressed with the gaming performance of this laptop. Beyond that it is equally as good with heavy duty production loads and even video and photo editing. Keyboard is a dream to type on and a great trackpad on a windows laptop??? Indeed! Showed up in near mint condition is mint had some greasy finger prints cleaned up very easy with some 99%.. So im not even going to say what the price was but way low... If you see an open box its well worth it even new would be !!!! Im very pleased! First thing i did was clone my other laptop straight to this one via a USB cable and Trueimage. That worked fine time to move on.. Popped this sucker open real easy remove the cooling vent covers this dose good!!! i be doing alot with this thing Mining Bit Coin 6 bucks a day with RTX not bad!!! Then CPU is for Chia mining!!! Not to mention i render 3d printer plots at the same time as well LOL.... Maxed the RAM out while at it and added a second NVME for temporary plotting drive for Chia mining running all this and still printing labels and doing order on ebay, amazon and facebook with out one problem look at the resources!!! Man this thing will pay for it self with in 80 days or less not to mention i sold my old laptop for 500 so heck... Im way wainning.. Installed all drivers and added a cooling pad becaus ethis thing will run 24/7 tell it is dead!!! Thats my 2 cents very awesome system for the open box price or even new price... ... show more
