  • Monster. Worth it if you have the funds.
Style: Rog Astral (Black) Size: RTX5090|OC|BTF
Monster of a card. Make sure you have a 1200-1600 watts psu and a well ventilated area because this monster produces major heat. Under full load it hits around 780-920 watts compared to my old RTX 4090 that hit around 540-640 watts under full load. FPS on Cyberpunk went from an average of 95 fps with my RTX 4090 to over 400 fps using ray-tracing with a max of over 500 fps and with path tracing I get around 360 fps with a max of 415 fps and it seems more stable over the ray-tracing. All in all very happy with this card. Paid way more than it's actually worth. It is what it is though. ... show more

Pro's: Getting 200+ frames on maxed out settings for most modern games Acts as a great space heater Temps usually hover around 60c - Don't have to worry about overheating, even when OC Didn't get a box full of rocks. Cons: None: This is a stable, rock solid GPU. Regardless of what you plan to use it for you wont be disappointed. ... show more

  • Poor quality control.
Style: Rog Astral (Black) Size: RTX5090|OC|BTF
Long story short: I open the box and immediately saw that the card had a loose Solid Capacitor. I was very disappointed with ASUS quality control and having wasted my entire day off waiting for a $4,000 gpu that looked like it was assembled by a 6 year old. I will not be purchasing anything from ASUS. ... show more

  • BTF connector worked great, runs whisper quiet, but dual-card builds will be hard
Style: Rog Astral (Black) Size: RTX5090|OC|BTF
Coming from previous-gen ASUS ROG cards, I had some apprehension about the BTF (Back to the Future) connector design before installation. The fear was unfounded, but there are real considerations buyers should think through before clicking purchase. The BTF connector experience: The whole reason I hesitated was the rear-facing power and PCIe edge connection. Plugging it in felt like more force than I'm used to with traditional 12VHPWR cables, and there's no visual confirmation the way a clicked-in cable gives you. That said, it seated cleanly on the first try with my BTF-compatible motherboard, and there's been zero connection or power delivery issues across multiple stress test sessions. Once it's in, the clean cable routing on the front of the build is genuinely impressive. No power cables visible at all. Size reality check, this is a 3.8-slot card: The listed 3.8-slot width is not a typo and not generous rounding. This card is massive. In my mid-tower it consumes the top PCIe slot and physically blocks the next three slots entirely. The idea of running two of these side by side is essentially impossible on any consumer motherboard I'm aware of. You'd need server-grade spacing, custom risers, or an open-air bench setup. If your build plan involves a second GPU, capture card, or any other PCIe expansion below the GPU, measure carefully and check your motherboard layout before ordering. Acoustics, surprisingly quiet: This is where the Astral cooler earns its premium. Under typical gaming loads (1440p and 4K, ray tracing on), the fans stay in a range I'd call genuinely quiet. Clearly audible if I put my ear near the case, but inaudible at desk distance over keyboard and monitor noise. Under sustained synthetic loads (Furmark, prolonged AI inference workloads), the fans ramp up but never reach the whiny pitch some previous flagships had. The 3.8-slot cooler clearly has thermal headroom to spare. Build quality and aesthetics: The card looks like what you'd expect for the price. Substantial metal shroud, clean RGB implementation that doesn't go overboard, and the BTF design lets the card itself be the visual centerpiece without cable clutter. The 1000W support spec gives confidence around transient spikes. I haven't seen anything close to that in real workloads, but it's reassuring headroom. Thermal performance: Idle temps sit in the low 40s°C in my case. Under sustained gaming load I'm seeing peak temps in the high 60s, low 70s, well within spec and notably cooler than reference cooler designs. Memory junction temps stay reasonable under AI workloads, which was a concern given the 32GB of GDDR7. Things to factor in before buying: BTF motherboard required to take advantage of the rear connector. Using this card with a standard motherboard defeats the entire design point. Case clearance. Measure depth, height, and the slots below your PCIe x16. The 3.8-slot width is not negotiable. PSU headroom. The 1000W support spec doesn't mean it draws that, but transient behavior on 5090-class cards has tripped underspec'd supplies. A quality 1000W+ unit is the sane minimum. Price. At flagship pricing, this is enthusiast-only territory. The OC edition specifically is paying a premium over base 5090 cards for cooling, build quality, and the BTF design. Bottom line: For a single-GPU build in a BTF-compatible chassis, this is a phenomenal card. Quiet, cool, beautifully built, and the clean cable routing transforms the look of the system. Just go in knowing that dual-card configurations are a non-starter, and that you're paying for a complete BTF ecosystem buy-in to get the full benefit. ... show more

  • Performance Beast
Style: Rog Astral (Black) Size: RTX5090|OC|BTF
This card is absolutely worth the $4,000 MSRP. The BTF edition allows for a cleaner look with the power coming from the motherboard rather than the precarious 12vhpwr cable. The 32GB of GDDR7 VRAM is far more than any game will use but it’s nice to have the head room. No issues with the product, highly recommend. ... show more

  • Absolute beast of a GPU
Style: Rog Astral (Black) Size: RTX5090|OC|BTF
Whats there else to say? Incredible performance and thermals, I paired it with a Asus Tuf B850 BTF and love the no-cable look inside the case. I did get a Cablemod 4x8 pin to 12vhpwr connector, as I dont like the look (or how much space it takes up) to use 4 PCIE cables with the included adapter. But thats just for looks and absolutely unnecessary for proper functioning. ... show more
