I live across from and close to level with street lights and these do a good job blocking them out. I can still see the blinds through the curtains but it still blocks out enough light for me to sleep. These are lightweight enough to stay on a tension rod too. The fabric can look pretty cheap, so I personally would avoid the dark colors. I had and returned a navy blue one (ordered the wrong size, nothing wrong with it) and it looked tacky, got the plain gray ones next and they're not too bad. I think any mid to light color will look great, but I'd definitely avoid burgundy, navy blue, black, etc. unless that's your vibe. ... show more

I guess I didn’t read the description well enough, these are only room darkening, not blackout like I wanted. I like them well enough to keep now that they’re up after being ironed. Color is good, a bit subdued.
