    • Good, but modifications necessary
I bought this to use with the Rode Podcaster mic and PSM1 shock mount. Didn't realize the shock mount and tripod had different thread sizes and would not screw together as-is. Rode customer service was no help at all - wouldn't even answer my inquiries, despite having a picture on their website of a person using this tripod with the same shock mount and mic. Finally I was able to figure out that I needed a 1/4" to 3/8" thread adapter. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time instead of wasting so much time trying to figure it out. But now it attaches to the shock mount nicely. It can be a bit wobbly if it's not positioned right, I think the mic is just a tad too heavy for such a small tripod, but as long as I'm careful with it, it supports it just fine. ... show more

I purchased this tripod because I had also recently gotten the Rode Procaster Microphone and needed a desk stand. It does not work for the Procaster or other heavy microphones. The rotating ball joint isn't strong enough to hold the mic in any position you want, and it will often fall forwards or fully tip over because the tripod legs are too small and light. ... show more

Good: Lightweight, compact, easy to carry. Bad: The thread on top is 1/4" but standard microphone mounting options are 5/8" so a thread adapter may be neccessary depending on your use case. Light weigh means that stability can become an issue using a heavier microphone. The ball tension knob is not very robust... Difficult to get enough tension by hand to stabilize a heavy microphone so in my case I used a vise grip to get the neccessary torque for mounting stability however, the tension adjustment knob broke off and has left me unable to make adjustments in the future... Fortunately it has enough tension at this point to maintain stability although it could loosen over time - fairly disappointing nonetheless. ... show more

Mini-Tripod must be designed for a Rode Microphone that is for something smaller in their line of products. Will not hold up when making small adjustments with stand orientation and is too short for Rhode mics typically used for voice and instrumental use.     • Doesn't Fit Video Mic Pro
I bought this tripod to use with my Rode Video Mic Pro (VMP). The Tripod Mini Stand product page on the Rode website clearly shows the VMP as compatible. The VMP and the Tripod mini stand use different thread sizes. The various thread sizes are confusing. The Tripod Mini Stand has 1/4" thread male connector. My VMP has a 3/8" thread female connector. For reference, a standard Mic stand has a has 5/8" thread male connector. I am returning the Rode Tripod Mini Stand and have ordered a AKG KM216 Thread Adapter 3/8" Male, 5/8" Female, Chrome so I can place my VMP on an On Stage DS7200B Adjustable Desk Microphone Stand, Black . I gave this product three stars because while it seems fairly solid and well made the description of what it is compatible with is misleading. ... show more
