  • This is the mic I recorded my songs with - they're on the radio
The media could not be loaded. I have several songs on the radio now and THIS is the mic that hot me there. I absolutely love it!! It's clear, bright, vibrant and so, so, so detailed. I prefer it to mics that are nearly TWENTY TIMES the price. This is MY mic. I use it for everything: vocals, guitar, some percussion. I even used it to record frogs and crickets on a summer night to use in the background on an upcoming song. Truly, you won't find a better mic. ... show more

  • Buttery Goodness
I am beyond pleased with the quality of this piece of functional art. It is as much a pleasure to handle and look at as it is to use. Tracking work becomes instantly more productive just by adding this as that critical step 1. Everything sounds better, which makes everyone feel better, which makes all the performances better, so you end up getting SO MUCH DONE! The mic has a rich openness that I can only describe as beautiful. Accurately capturing even the most gentle transients and spectral shifts, The K2 manages to deliver a tonally balanced "silky warmness" I've only ever heard from a Neumann U87, but a buttery goodness that is a character all it's own. This mic will STAY in my first try lineup. ... show more

  • Love this Mic
Love this Mic! Best mic I've ever owned, I had a cheap Chinese mic (Studios Project c1) And wanted to upgrade to a nicer high end mic. I have recorded using $5.000 mics before, U87's, telefunken and other expensive mics . This mic is by far my favorite of all of them. It has that "warm sound" it sounds good on everyone I've recorded so far. Highly recommend it. • It Will Not Disappoint You
I own a Rode NT1-A and an NTK. Now I wanted to try the K2 because it has the multi-pattern function. It sounds amazing. It captures the sound and reproduces exactly what it captured. This is what I need. If you are considering between Neumann TLM 103, TLM 149, or even TLM U87 Ai and this one, then you should buy this one. They do not make a huge difference. So, do not waste money on those mics. And the K2 will definitely not disappoint you. My biggest disappointment with this mic is its build quality. Rode builds the capsule on a piece of rubber and glue that peeled off during the shipment. When I received my mic, I can visually see the capsule bent backward. I immediately filed for a replacement. However, for some reason, I could not get a replacement. Perhaps it is because I bought it with promotion and for some reason, Amazon sent it to me as a gift. Those points denied me a replacement. Amazon only accepts a return. So, I had no choice but to test the mic (it's because I did not want to test the mic and return it. If I return it, I wanted to return without testing it). But the mic worked fine. So, I guess I have no choice but to keep it. It has no sign of use, even though it has some scratches on the body of the mic. And, the power supply of the mic has a small dent. These damages were probably caused by the shipment. How do I know it has not been used? I smell it and checked all the connections. Will I buy it again? NO! Never! It has bad build quality. Will I recommend it? Yes (if you do not care about a bent capsule). Otherwise, STAY AWAY FROM IT! Why did I give it 5 stars? It's because the stars are for the effort of making the mic from the manufacturer, not my satisfaction with it. RODE, you guys need to build better parts with this wonderful mic, please! ---------- UPDATE: June 1, 2020 I'm sorry for a late update but here it is: (1) Rode gave me 10 years warranty for the mic. I'm happy with that. (2) I was able to fix the capsule problem with ease. I'm happy with my mic now. ... show more
