Description

The Rockwell BladeRunner X2 Portable Tabletop Saw is the solution to the problem of having to take materials back to the workshop to cut them, and then bring them back to the job site later on. If you’re a contractor, you know that that process can add an entire day to a project. The BladeRunner is only 15 lbs, so while stable and sturdy, it’s easy to toss in the back of the truck. And with a footprint of only 15.75” x 17”, it doesn’t take up an entire workbench like traditional table saws. The hold-down guard and splitter allow for work with wider materials, and a larger rip fence than other portable table saws provides better control and accurate cuts. A no-load speed of 3000/min, a stroke length of ¾”, with 5.5 amps of power gives it the capacity for light to moderate cutting of wood (up to 1-1/2”), ceramic tile (3/8”), PVC pipe (1-1/4”), aluminum (3/8”), and steel (1/8”). (Anything over 1-1/2” and you’re probably going to need a traditional, permanently fixed tabletop saw—but you can’t take that to the job site.) The blades change out almost instantly, in under 3 seconds once you get the hang of the tool-less blade change system. And the saw is protected by a Rockwell 3-year limited warranty, so you know they stand behind their tools.

  • Watch a You Tube video
First, throw the instructions away and watch a You Tube video on how to safely use the saw especially how to install the blades. Overall it does what I bought it for. The guide arm where the saw blade goes into, and holds the work piece down is a bit flimsy and moves somewhat when you are ripping a long piece of wood, which can give you a slightly less than perfect rip. I wound up screwing the saw itself onto a piece of plywood on my work table because it was moving around as you fed the board through. You're using pressure to feed it through and pressure from the side holding the board against the rip fence. All in all I am happy with the saw. ... show more

  • Know your intended use
Having a quick to use saw for up to 1 1/2" stock that can both rip, crosscut and scroll is very handy. One should note the T-slot for the square is fairly loose in the slot. And it is a plastic slot with open areas along each side. (allows built up dust to fall out perhaps?) If you want a tool to cut birdhouses out of cedar, this thing will amaze you. If you want to build a cigar humidor with tight fitting joints, not so much. If you need a scrollsaw buy a good one (like a Bosch, DeWalt, etc., and you will be happier. The reason I gave it a 4 is, even knowing it is NOT a finish saw of any kind and still having a use for it, the manual is nearly worthless. So this is for you if you buy one. The blade "button" which allows you to inseert a new blade, is used like this. Push down on red button, pull button (and slide) to the left, push blade down to fully insert. release slide back to right. Blade will rotate to alignment and lock in place. A great feature once you figure it out. The manual has no verbiage. Just a picture with arrows going in multiple directions. This thing is loud. I have a Delta floor model tablesaw. This thing will drown it out even while I ripped a board on the Delta and this thing just running. It is a plastic much like garbage cans are made out of. Not sure how it would fare in a non climate controlled shop. But on the other hand, it won't rust. To sum up, at the price point I will not return it. I have been doing woodworking for nearly 45 years so I am used to having near commercial equipment for the cut quality they give. I didn't buy this for that, just some quick repair things where a power cord is available. Hope this helps someone. ... show more

  • Excellent Product
I bought this on a whim, I'm installing a Vinyl Plank flooring in my basement and had originally tried cutting my cuts with a circular saw, Big mistake as it throws plastic sawdust everywhere, next came using a Jig Saw which worked, but worked super slow and required three hands to hold the plank, hold the saw and hold the table while making minute cuts without screwing up the whole piece. Enter the Blade Runner, I was in a Big Box store buying scroll saw blades,( Yes, another vain attempt at cutting my planks, Blades last about 30 seconds before snapping and the saw itself bounces across the floor) When I noticed the Blade Runner on the shelf next to me, I remembered seeing them advertised a few years ago and meant to buy one then, but forgot about it. However, It seemed perfect for what I needed, Basically just a Upside Down Jigsaw on a Table. Amazon was $40 cheaper, So I ordered and literally had it the next day, and I live out in the sticks. This Saw is fantastic, it's like it was designed for the sole purpose of putting in a vinyl floor. However, I took away (1) Star for Rockwell quality control, The Guard is held on by (2) Bolts that uses a tool-less screw knob with a nut inside, (1) nut was missing and required me going to the store and buying some (M6x1.00 Metric in case your're wondering) a minor inconvenience since most my cuts are made without the blade guard in place. Feature-wise most have covered it, But it comes with the tabletop saw, (5) blades for various projects from cutting Metal, Ceramic, Wood and yes, Vinyl Planks, It comes with a Rip fence, and a Miter gauge. I see many, many uses for this saw down the road. Blade changes are made in 2 seconds and everything is designed to NOT have to use tools to make it work. I kick myself for not buying one sooner. In closing, I'll just say I never installed a Plank Floor before, So there is a certain learning curve and I know for a fact, had I had this saw from the start, it would've made the entire job flow a lot smoother. I read most of the (1) Star reviews and even one where the guy said it was the worst thing ever for Vinyl Flooring, I'm not sure what He was expecting, Maybe push a button and the stuff cut itself? But this thing works fantastic for Vinyl flooring and even though it's just an upside down jigsaw with a table, It actually cuts faster than using a handheld jigsaw, But it's important to remember, It's a Jigsaw, So it's NOT going to be setting any speed cutting records, Reading between the lines in the (1) star comments, I gathered most people were disappointed at the speed and not at the saw itself. However, part of the beauty of a Jigsaw is it goes slow enough to allow for very precise cuts without destroying your work piece because of one cut that went too far or maybe the difference of looking like a 5 year old installed your floor or a Professional did it . You Decide. ... show more

  • Works well for hobby work.
This is a great saw for hobby work with small items. But then that is most likely what is was designed for. If I want to use it to cut a larger panel as a scroll saw, there is no dust collection. Dangerous is you are cutting MDF panels.

  • Table jig saw issues.
When I first received, I tried it and found several issues. The issues that were from the other reviews were correct. I made adjustment to the roller spacing by bring them in were they touch the jig saw blade. The black Head cover I would take a sheet of 1/4" put it the table, then lock it to that thickness - leave a little space so that it can slide. On the fence, I use a triangle square to adjust it. The jig saw blades that came with it are junk. I purchased Bosh jig saw blades 10 pt, now it works great. I did have to fasten it to my work bench. It does need to be fasten down. Now I am work on the cross side. I need to fasten the wood down for it to work. After all that it is great for small wood working projects. it is not big enough to cut anything bigger than 3/8" wood. ... show more

  • Poor accuracy
Tool is worth having just don't expect to rip wood/laminate with and accuracy. Blade dances around too much. Great for to use as a scroll saw. I have cut straightener lines with my DeWalt jig saw. I don't think I would buy it again.
