Description

The Rockville RPG12 Powered PA speaker is simply amazing in terms of sound quality, and raw power! This speaker has an incredible 800 watts of peak power and will deliver a massive amount of bass, mids, and highs. The ultra- efficient design is amazing! this speaker is the result of a year of research and development. We tested samples of 5 top selling powered speakers and the RPG series out-performed them all. These go louder and have punchier bass. What we found to be interesting was that some of the other speakers We tested against these were rated by their manufacturers At 1, 200 watts or more, but they only went around half as loud as these. we also included All the inputs and outputs you would need along with great controls.

  • The box and packing material are fine for palletized shipping
style: 15 Inch - No Bluetooth Pattern: Speaker
Three stars pending further info. Pair of speakers I ordered arrived as described by others here in the original Rockville packaging with no overpack. The box and packing material are fine for palletized shipping, but are not enough to truly protect the speakers the way UPS throws things around. There is fitted styrofoam at the top and bottom but if the sides of the boxes get pushed in, like mine did, the sides will make contact with the speaker, especially the large speaker grill. The fronts of my speakers were fine. A couple of the cooling fins on one of the speakers had been damaged in transit and when I plugged it in there was an immediate and constant loud hum. It went away when I plugged an SLR cable daisy chained from the other speaker and it worked fine but the hum came back when the input was removed. I'm not counting on that lasting so I have entered a return for the speaker. I didn't get to mess around with them much but they sounded decent. I have placed an order for another speaker. Once I spend more time with two working speakers I will give a better review of the speakers themselves. I REALLY want to like these speakers, and I may yet, but I can't give a complete review at this point. And a warning: Neither box contained the floor monitor brackets mentioned in the description and pic. I have very recently contacted the seller about that besides returning the one damaged speaker but it's too soon to expect an answer just yet. When I know more, you'll know more. Edit: I’ve upgraded my review to five stars. I have been using these speakers for quite a while now and I love them! They sound phenomenal and I get compliments on a regular basis on how clear they sound. The cabinet scars easily, so you need to be careful with them, but they are more than worth the price! I’m ordering a fourth speaker for an outdoor gig I have next month. ... show more

  • My initial experience with the RPG15BT in a Karaoke setup
style: 15 Inch - With Bluetooth Pattern: Speaker
My interest in this item was for it to serve as a primarily for-voice loudspeaker for Karaoke purposes. I had read in an article somewhere that using regular music speakers for karaoke sessions (especially enthusiastic ones) would not only compromise the voice reproduction but also the music reproduction. The article claimed that music speakers were not designed to faithfully reproduce voice input. Additionally, it mentioned that the for-music speakers could suffer some damage when used for voice inputs which were meant to be reproduced by for-voice loudspeakers. Whether true or not, I was not willing to risk the hardware health of my for-music speakers - Bose 901 Series V speakers - which at this time is quickly approaching its 30th anniversary. My intention was to channel voice inputs solely through the Rockville RPG15BT speaker while channeling the karaoke/minus-one/accompaniment background music through the Bose 901s (driven by a Carver M400t). The karaoke minus-one/accompanying music would also be inputted into the Rockville speakers. The music source is from a laptop PC through its headphone output port and, through a splitter, the audio content is distributed (1) to the amp driving the Bose 901s and (2) to the RCA input ports on the Rockville RPG15BT. After some configuration/re-configuration, I was able to accomplish this. As originally expected, the Rockville was unable to reproduce the music component of the audio as well as the Bose 901s. But the Rockville speaker was able to reproduce the voice input/component of the karaoke performance in a way the Bose 901s did not. And it was LOUD. Am still playing with the equalization settings for the Rockville speaker so it's possible that there will be some incremental improvement in the fidelity of music reproduction though I can't see how it can approach the fidelity of the Bose 901s to any appreciable extent. So I now presumably have the best of both worlds for my karaoke set-up; i.e. the musical fidelity with the Bose 901s for the background/accompaniment music and the loud and robust sound of voice inputs on the Rockville speakers performing together. Eventually, I hope to integrate my Behringer Xenyx 1202FX audio mixer into my karaoke setup so I can incorporate more sound effects and accommodate as many as 6 microphones into the karaoke setup. Not sure if anyone's noticed but once karaoke singers get wound-up, they are no longer given to either giving up their microphones or stop singing. On the performance of the Rockville speaker itself, as far as I can see and have experienced, it performs pretty much in the manner described in the item description. USB connection works okay playing mp3 files using either a flash drive or a portable hard disk. Haven't tried the Bluetooth or SD components. My greatest apprehension (fortunately unfounded) was to receive an item that wouldn't work initially. But as most electronic equipment go, once it performs continuously without problems during the entire "burn-in" period, it should work well for the next several years. BTW, being the miserly penny-pincher that I am, I placed my order of this item with Audiosavings (listed as "Other Sellers") as their item price was $10 lower with no other additional charges (price offered was net). I notice that the equipment emits a noticeable "hum" while idling. Not sure if this is typical of this genre of audio equipment. Once the music and the voice inputs get going though, the "hum" is no longer noticeable or in any case drowned out by the audio being played/sung. Will try to post updates to this review if I encounter any significant experience with the Rockville RPG15BT that other prospective buyers may find useful. ... show more

  • Great Value, Good Sound, Works Overseas 220 V if Needed
style: 12 Inch - No Bluetooth Pattern: Speaker
I am donating stage monitor speakers for a music school in the Philippines through Philippine Children's Charity. I needed a powered (active) monitor speaker that was 220 V. Ordering from Europe where 220 V is common was not an option because Roland, Yamaha, Fender, etc. do not allow importation from European Union retail stores to private individuals in the U.S. I was left with these vs. Behringer. The Behringer speakers were sold out, so I took these. Great price. Sound was very good. I tested them out with a Roland synthesizer and the speakers had no problem. Some low level noise that I do not think would be an issue in a live venue at all. Very good value. Has MIC XLR and 1/4 input and XLR line input. Has bass and treble EQ which worked well. Great as a PA system for public speaking or stage monitor system. Would work for small to medium venues and main speakers as well although you might have a little noise - but I think the noise is minimal and would not be noticed by anyone except a recording engineer and producer like me :) ... show more
