  • Lightweight and POWERFUL...
style: Class D 2000w RMS
It should be noted that I ordered the D-14 which is LESS than 10 lbs and delivers a whopping 1400 watts (RMS) at 8ohms. (The non D rated amps are much heavier.) This all started when our small band began booking gigs OUTside where much more power is needed. We first purchased a pair of Rockville RSG 15" PA speakers (excellent also) and I didn't feel my Crown power amp was going to give us enough punch. Adding the D-14 with the RSG 15s has given us a very impressive sound system in a lightweight package. You cannot go wrong with this system and can be had at a much lower investment than a Crown, JBL, Yamaha, or QSC system. (One note though: In a studio application, you may find the cooling fan a bit loud for the environment. In a live venue, it's just fine.) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! ... show more

  • Sound is good, Build Quality Very Bad.
style: Class D 1400w RMS
It's got the power, clear and clean. However the build quality is just not there. First we had to modify the rack ears because they did not match the hole separation on the rack. It wasn't the rack because the good quality devices matched just fine. The one of the XLR input doesn't release the cable when the tab is pressed. Took allot of fiddling to get it out again. If I wasn't using it in a rack where I never need to unplug them I would have returned it. Now I am finding the option switches on the back for cross over and stereo/bridging will change position way too easy. Gonna have to tape them so they don't get knocked. Would recommend to spend $50 more and get something else. We will be replacing this as soon as we can, maybe keep it as an emergency backup. ... show more

  • Good little amp
style: Class D 2000w RMS
Just like the other reviews, it does the job and so far so good...also it is like the bench test. It starts to get some distortion above 600 watts without clip light. It's very quiet for that much output. I have some DIY speakers with 2 12's Pro Audio woofers a DS 18 car midrange, polk and scanspeak tweeter, but I would not put that amp on my VMPS ribbon speakers. It didn't even care when I passive sub on it ! ... show more

  • Good Value Good Sound Super Quiet Fan
style: 1400w RMS
Having only had this arrive today I cant give a longevity report but wanted to share my initial reactions. As a former nightclub designer back in the 70's-80's- 90's with dozens of clubs built worldwide and countless audio systems installed here's my initial thoughts are : For the money this appears of reasonable build quality, the sound is excellent, the fan so quiet you can hardly hear it which is brilliant, using it for a new Home Vinyl Room to play all my collection of vinyl with Bose 80's powered by this amp. Plenty of power and certainly seems like around 500 watts into 8 ohms. Display is excellent as are the stepped volume controls, the linked out inputs are great to feed subs. Now the bad : the "ears" for rack mounting are not removable so you are stuck with prince Charles ears sticking out even if you are not putting it in a rack. Secondly, the power cord is not detachable, seriously Rockville how can you make such huge mistakes, where else do you see a so called pro power amplifier with a non detachable 115v power socket. Apart from that its super impressive, way better than Geminis NGA 5000 with its vacuum cleaner fans, but at least they had a detachable power cord. after sending back the Gemini XGA 5000 because is just wasn't up to standard and the fans were louder than you vacuum cleaner ... show more

  • works great
style: 1400w RMS
I've had a pair of jbl e90 floorstanding 3 way speakers for more than 20 years...never had them hooked up to anything other than a receiver with 100 watts per channel...what a shame...bought this RPA12 several months ago and hooked up my old jbl's ...unbelievable how great these speakers sound after all this time...all they needed was some real juice to make them sing...they're rated for 225 watts rms each so this amp has plenty of headroom...i can crank it really loud, and i mean screaming loud, and the volume is barely half way up while the sound is crystal clear...im 54 and don't give a shiat about my ears...they always ring and i don't want to hear what most people have to say anyway...i liked what this amp did so much that I've since aquired 2 RPA16's at 10,000 watts each and have built two boxes for 15 inch subs as well as two boxes for 8 inch subs...slapped a crossover and preamp unit on top of it all and just run all my music from my pc to the preamp through your standard 3.5mm pc audio jack...game changer set up from where i started with my first Rockville RPA12...I dont even use my sony stereo receiver anymore...no need to...got one build and one more amp to add....some devastating Orion HCCA midrange speakers married to one more RPA16 and then the neighbors will hate me more than ever...then my work is done....the RPA12 is more than enough wattage for most people and their setup....if you want to upgrade your setup and add some big subs or pro PA loludspeakers, just get the RPA16...the RPA12 is 5000 watts peak for $284...the RPA16 is 10000 watts peak for $100 more...thats 5000 more peak watts at your disposal for another $100...all of the amps I've bought have worked great and they are easy to use for anyone...no expert audio tech knowledge necessary...the user manual is like 7 pages and illustrates different setups and where you plug in the cables for said setups...idiot proof...get one...you'll be glad you did ... show more

  • Waste of time. Adds noise to the system.
style: 3000w RMS
I have a home audio system. 1 Crown amp, DBX sound processor, Denon and high end Bluetooth, expensive ground isolating power conditioner. Audio is perfect no noise. Then adding this amplifier - there is a buzz added to the system. Remove the amp - buzz gone. Sent back to Rockville, they returned and said it tested fine. They did not call me at all and just returned it to me. Would be an okay amplifier for outdoors where quality is not needed. No reason to keep it if the amp adds noise. Crown has perfect playback no introduced noise. Even cheap Alibaba amps from Riworal Class D do not add noise and are better than this quality wise. It is powerful, but the noise - buzz is a deal breaker for me. ... show more
