  • Can't wait to use them at a gig!
Although I have not yet used the speakers for an event, I must say that they are quite impressive. I don't have a large room in my house to test them so my impressions may be different once I try them in a larger venue. I must say they are very loud and have a nice bottom end without a subwoofer. I have never owned active speakers before so the learning curve was rather long but after a few minutes I was able to get the hang of it and get them tuned properly. I connected them thru a Behringer mixer with a laptop connected to the mixer. I had the speakers volume set about halfway and the mixer main set at halfway and the channel from the laptop about 1/4. That was about as loud as I could stand! There was no distortion and the clip level lights were just barely lighting up. They weren't even close to clipping. I feel like it I went any louder I'd be replacing window panes! I have a 15" Rockville sub that I will use for larger venues for say over 150 people or maybe for the younger crowd. But these speakers have plenty of bass for smaller rooms that you really don't need the sub. If you are outdoors and playing for a larger crowd, I'd say absolutely, use the sub. Weight wise, I was concerned about lifting them to put on the stands. I don't know the exact weight(should be about 41 lbs) but I didn't have any trouble lifting them for the stands. There is only 1 handle on the side but you can grab other places that will help position it on the stand. Yes, I would prefer a handle on either side but that's what it is. The controls on the back are pretty self explanatory and if you have even a small knowledge of sound systems, you'll be able to figure things out. Just make it a habit that before you turn the speaker off, turn the volume(s) all the way down. That way you won't risk blowing a speaker on start up. It still makes me kick myself when I connect everything and there is no sound and I check the volumes and they are still turned down. But hey, I didn't pop a speaker! But I've rambled a little here. The stands are good quality, the cables are good quality, but the bag is not. You'll notice I said good not great quality. The cables and stands are adequate for light duty but are not built for day in/day out use of a professional entertainer. Maybe with extra care they'll do fine for a while. The bag is little more than a vinyl bag with a zipper. It will be fine if all you want to use it for is to store the stands in a closet and keep dust off of them. Don't expect it to hold up during transportation to/from a gig. Spend some money on a quality bag that will hold up. Overall, I'm very impressed with the speakers and can't wait to use them at a gig. When I do, I'll come back and give a more thorough update. UPDATE I had my first event with these speakers and my opinion still stands. I dj'd a wedding in a "barn" that was approximately 75'x75' and at least 75 people in attendance. I only turned the speakers maybe 1/3 of the needed volume. The sound quality was excellent and I received many compliments on the setup. Didn't need my subwoofer for this event. The red Rockville label shone across the dance floor and the blue pulsing light on the upper left side only added to the dj lights I had going. Now the negatives. These are minor and probably are the nuances of these speakers. The 1st is the IEC(power cord) cable is a little slack where it plugs into the back of the speaker. I don't know if there is a way to tighten it up to where it won't risk falling out of the connection. I'll just have to keep a watchful eye on that if it becomes a problem. The 2nd is I am having problems lifting the speaker off of the stand. I would think it should slide right off but the fit is so snug that I need an extra set of hands to hold the stand while I lift off the speaker. I'll need to remedy that because I may not have any help at future events. And lastly, I'm not blaming Rockville, but I would like to buy padded covers to protect the speakers. I can't find covers for less than $35. Come on man, I'd spend $15-$20 but not $35! But this is not a negative to the speakers themselves. As far as longevity, the jury will have to be out on this issue. Still, I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Beautiful sound for not a lot of money
The speakers really pump out a rich and beautiful sound. We're using them for a meeting space and they check all the boxes for us. The price point is reasonable and this kit is pretty much everything you need. The real star of this though, was the seller. The speakers shipped separately from the cables, stands, and bag. We reached out to the seller to ask about the other items in the set and the response was almost immediate. They supplied a tracking number of the second shipment and updated several times to let us know when it would arrive. This was a different level of customer service than we are accustomed to when dealing with items not fulfilled by Amazon. ... show more

  • A great price for a good system!
As a pro DJ for 25 years, I came out of a 10 year retirement and decided to get a small system for some events I've been asked to DJ recently. I used to have a larger much more expensive JBL Eon powered system with the subs so I decided what the heck and thought the price was very good and to my surprise these speakers sound almost as good as my JBL Eons ever did! I highly recommend getting the 12-inch Subs which I also have a pair of with the 12 inch tops and together they sound very good for small to medium-size events. ... show more

  • Great Backyard Cinema Sound!
I am no audiophile, but I did a lot of searching and you tube review watching before I bought these to supply the sound for a 16' x 9' outdoor cinema set-up. They are MORE than enough audio to bring the show to life on that scale. Great dynamic sound that I'm not even close to pushing to its limit. I am splitting out the speakers to get stereo sound outdoors and don't even get them turned up halfway. I have a one acre yard, very open with no fences, etc, and they fill the area NO PROBLEM. Rockville customer service was AWESOME help while I was deciding which speakers to buy, they deliver a QUALITY affordable speaker, the stands are great, they have a super storage bag. Just love 'em. Great product, great company, stop scouting the reviews and buy with confidence. ... show more

  • I have not been able to fully test them for ...
I have not been able to fully test them for a show yet. But the Test I ran with these is WOW as described and with the free shipping the came a lot faster than I thought it would!! will update once I have done a show with them. Ok been a bit but finally was able to do a show with 2 of the four speakers I bought. And all I can say is wow I took all four but the room size only called for 2 speakers! and they performed well beyond my expectations! The only trouble I had was with one song that I had two synths hooked up to my mixer along with 2 mics and not sure what happened but some how the power cable had worked itself loose or if someone had slightly tugged on it and the main speaker connecting the 2nd on had powered off. Like I said not sure if it was the vibration from the synths or if someone tugged on it. But other than that.. you really cannot beat these speakers for the price! I would highly recommend getting a set of these! Hope this helps any musicians out there! If you are a DJ I did run the RCA hookup from my mixer to these along with a lap top with a Behringer U-Control UCA222 and performed just as well! Hope this also helps you all in a decision! ... show more
