I am only going to knock it a little for the mount. It could be a little better. Maybe a slightly larger footprint on the cleat, just to make it that much more sturdy. Otherwise it's perfect. This boom stand works well for studio recording and also for performance. I have another boom mic stand from another brand and they are shorter in length. Most of the selection you will find are just about 28". This Rockville DMS40 has a total span of 40" and is just what I needed for my home studio. Easy to set up. The quality of this stand is much better from my other one. The price is very reasonable if not cheap. These are very cheaply-made and the workmanship is terrible. The metal threading for the mounts is extremely weak and knurled. It ruined one of my mounts as it didn't have a clear path down. The base also isn't large/heavy enough to support the weight of some larger mics as it already started leaning forward while attempting to install mics on these. You get what you pay for, I would stay FAR AWAY from these stands! ... show more
