  • Great value and not black
Style: 6.5” 8 Ohm Classic
I was originally attracted to these speakers because they are available in wood tone (not black). Why is virtually all hi-fi equipment black these days. I remember when I saw my first black receiver in about 1972. I think it was a Nakamichi. I thought it was kind of cool at the time. Since then virtually all equipment has migrated to black. I hate it. I don't like black at all. It is not even a color--it is an absence of color. I won't buy anything black now unless it is an insanely great unit or it is at an insanely great price. That said these turn out to be really nice. They look great (because they are not black). I don't have a super well trained ear, but they sound very good to me--definitely better than the Phillips speakers they are replacing. They are more efficient, too, but not super efficient. I'm using them as computer speakers with a Denon home theater receiver that I picked up for $20 at a thrift store. Is seems that most of my listening is on the computer these days, so I might as well have a good system hooked up to it. I also really like the rounded corners--nice touch. Be sure to get the version 2 model. The old ones are still being sold on Amazon. These have several tweaks like thicker MDF, bigger woofer magnet and improved tweeter voice coil. They are amazingly compact for a 6.5" speaker due to the acoustic suspension design. Even the grill is on MDF. It could be a bit fragile as it is so thin next to the woofer--handle with care. So happy to find speakers that are a good value. Oh, did I mention that they are not black? ... show more

  • For the price, absolutely
Style: 6.5” 4 Ohm White
For the price, you get better than you would expect bookshelf speakers. I have had these since Sept 2021 and use them every day and being the 4 ohm speakers, my Integra receiver is pushing 260 watts RMS. I never blast it but these still have a tolerance for high power at decent levels. The only complaint is the tweeters aren't loud enough. You can buy better tweeters that fit in the same hole for $35 and these would still be worth it. I have a small 8" sub running at low power just to fill in the low end bass, 60hz and lower, that these don't. I tested the lower end frequency range and was able to hear bass down to 35hz on these but the lower end seems lacking in bass when listening, it's more a midrange woofer anyway. They sound good out of the box though and worth the price. ... show more

  • Rockshelf 54W V2 4 Ohm 5.25" speakers
Style: 5.25" 4 Ohm White
These are 2nd set. 1st is 58W V2 8 Ohm speakers! Both were returns or open box! Both boxes looked a bit beat up but both set of speakers look good. This 54W V2 4 Ohm set had a small area on a back side of one with minor vinyl imperfections! Tested this pair with new and old music for about an hour. Speakers were slightly cool from outside. Did move them around... No loose connections! The sound quality is very easy to listen too. Even the bass was not to bad. Wanted these because the enclosure size is smaller and a sealed box. So far totally please with these for the price. And so glad I had to return a Rockville tower speaker pair...was D.O.A. Thanks audiosavings!!! Update: Friday the 13th 2023 Well guess one speaker sounds good! Had both 54W speakers close together and after being right next to them discovered a 5.25" with no sound, tweeter seemed ok. Another D.O.A used/open purchase product! The Rockshelfs do sound good but will check out the 58W a little more. Bummer, returning not so fun!!! 10/24/23 Amazon said refund made! Interesting that REASON FOR RETURN: CUSTOMER RETURN. REAL REASON IS BECAUSE 1 WOOFER NOT WORKING. One other thing to note is the return 54W set is slightly taller, and wider! This was somewhat time consuming. Still need to test the 58W set a bit longer to be sure no issues! I really don't want to return them too! ... show more

  • I love them! Good sound for the price!
Style: 6.5” 8 Ohm Black
After my old tower speakers finally disintegrated from age (I bought them back in 1975 from Radio Shack), I needed good sound but not the size since at my age now, having a a set of powerful speakers is a thing of the past. After the speakers arrived, I hooked them up and tested them with one of my albums. J. Geils sounded really good with excellent base and sound quality. I even turned them up a little to hear if there was any distortion. There was none! ... show more

  • kinda sorta muffled on both bass & treble
Style: 6.5” 8 Ohm Black
I hooked them up to my Marantz 2252 with a 20 band equalizer and was kinda disappointed. I was expecting a little better quality. But for the price they are a bargain, just don't expect to much from them. I may add a 1" rear bass port to see if that improves the sound.

  • 1 Bad speaker cone - creating an irritating recursive noise each time the base hits
Style: 6.5” 4 Ohm Black
Darn IT!!!,…I received these new Rockville 2 Rock Shelf 64B 400w Black 6.5"" Home Theater Bookshelf Speakers 4 Ohms. And one of the speakers is bad. Its creating a banngie and irritating type vibration noise that is not part of the base audio music. It’s a bad speaker where the cone is creating it own out of wack sound from a recursive vibration each time the base hits. I have the Pyle PT250BT stereo receiver and I only had the volume up to level 8. This small output receiver is rated to provided 50 Watts to an 8 Ohm speaker or 100 watts to a 4 Ohm speaker. I thought the 4 Ohm speakers would be the right fit and I still think they are except one speaker is creating its own irritating banngie recursive out of tune vibration noise..its clearly a bad speaker cone. Really irritating, it ruins the movies and music true sounds I have had it with these speakers they are not up to par even with a simple PT250BT stereo receiver that is only producing at max 100 Watt output. I am not even turning up the volume to stress the speaker or to upset my neighbors. I am only wanting to enjoy good music and movie surround sound in my living room I am going to replace the speakers with the blue Pyle 360 Watt 6.5 three way 4 ohm speakers and keep the boxes.. Thanks for nothing except the nice speaker boxes - much appreciated! ... show more
