Bought this to clean a relatively large inground pool with a deep end bottoming out at almost 10 feet. Was concerned the depth might be an issue as this is apparently only rated for 8.2 feet, but it hasn’t been an issue at all, even when it’s ended it’s cycle down in the deep end. It cleans well, seems to run somewhat randomly, so it’s best to leave it in for the longer cycles, but it climbs the gunite walls well and manages to scrub the bottom of the tile coping before going back down. Considering it costs considerably less than the similar brand name units, it’s well worth the money. Relatively easy to clean. Two narrow filter baskets are easily dumped out and then hoses out to get rid of the finer sentiment. ... show more

EDIT: Starts off wonderfully. Cord gets tangled occasionally. But then it just dies. I can see why it so cheap. If you only need a pool cleaner to work for a couple of months, this one is for you. First one died. Sent it back. Now second is dead too. This time right after time to return ran out. Stay away from at all cost. WOW! This is a review for the 1008. I didn't want to get my hopes up on this one. It is cheaper than most of the horrible "cordless" machines, that work half-assed for an hour, and then get stuck or don't clean the pool. This machine is the bomb. It climbs the walls(until its dirt bin is full, and even then about half the wall; my walls are angled at about 60 degrees), and cleans debris my crappy cordless failed to ever clean. Has a 1-2-3 hour cleaning timer, and seems to have a pattern to how it cleans, as in two 3 hours timed sessions it COMPLETELY cleaned a pool the cordless could never clean. THIS IS THE DEAL OF THE CENTURY. You cannot have it to run continuously, but frankly you won't need to. And the cord NEVER gets tangled. It does NOT have a mechanism to stop it from tangling but the key to it never tangling is to set the jets up so their water goes straight out, and not at an angle. I have not needed that feature as it cleans the pool so well with this one setting. To show you how good it is, I just bought a second unit! i just knew I would get a battery operated one for this price but this is the real deal. You can get 3 or 4 of these for the price of 1 of the other electric cleaners. And as we all know you only get about 2 good years out of them before belts strip, etc. Finally, is the brush attached to the unit as good as the crawlers with motorized movement? Let me say, it cleaned up all the stains, small bits of algae, etc. that the cordless never did. And I can see no belt to strip in 2 years either, so to me, a good trade. It will not scrub the part of your pool that is outside of the water, but again, on most corded units I tried that feature never worked very well, and they just ended up sucking air, and then falling to the bottom of the pool. But if you must have that feature, this unit will not do that. And it's cord is 33 ft., which cleans my 36x18 oval, but it might not work on much larger pools, but it seems to only use about 2/3 of the line, so up to 50x25, you will probably be alright, and that is with about 5 feet out of the pool where I am using it, to reach the power unit. I could get more clearance with an extension cord if I needed to. I cannot speak on complicated shaped pools, however. And it will not climb stairs, but the trade off is, it never gets stuck on them either, like many of the fancier units I have had in the past just loved to do. Haha. Does it ever get stuck anywhere? Only once in many cleanings. And I just tugged on the line and it went back to work. And finally I cannot speak on fine sand; I did not have any of that in the bottom of my pool. However it did pick up ALL debris that was there, and some of it was quite small. My thoughts are it WILL pick up sand. NO MORE PULLING THAT DAMN CORDLESS UNIT OUT OF THE POOL AND HAVING TO CHARGE IT! AND I WON'T BE CRYING WHEN THIS ONE DOES STOP WORKING. I CAN JUST USE MY SPARE. This is a great simple electric pool cleaner that does the job. If that is what you are wanting, it does that in spades. The media could not be loaded. We bought this robot to replace our Dolphin Nautilus CC after 3+ seasons of heavy use in Houston, TX. The replacement parts and new cord were going to be $400-500, so we just decided to look for a replacement. We took a risk on this brand, but the reviews were great. You can see the noticeable difference even after one pass. This is with weekly pool services and being down a robot for 1 month. Likes: - Cost is about 2/3 the price of a Maytronic Dolphin - Cleans equally as well as our $900 Dolphin did - Filter baskets are easy to clean - Water-line scrubbing is great - Doesn’t get stuck going over drains - Good pool coverage on any of the cycles - Great suction; picked up even the finest of sand on the pool floor with no problem - 2 year warranty Cons: - Doesn’t feel as well built as the Dolphin, but can’t put my finger on why I say that - Doesn’t climb stairs (but my Dolphin really didn’t either) Take the risk and save yourself some money! The weights inside my unit arrived broken off. It does not come well packaged. The cord tangles so badly that the vacuum can hardly move around. The vacuum itself works well so I put a tube and some pool noodles around the cord to keep it tangle free. I also secured the weights inside. I should have known when it took 2 returns to get one that wasn’t broken when delivered. Once I got one that wasn’t broken it work great, I was impressed until now 2 months later it doesn’t work. I do not recommend this pool vacuum.

Ok folks a little background . Inherited parents house with 25 year old inground concrete pool. Had not covered in the last couple years ( Escapades involving my dogs and age related holes in cover ) pine trees maple trees ect . In addition to that buildup I believe that we have supplied my neighborhood with around a thousand frogs based on the tadpoles swimming in it . Green murky swamp I was afraid to stick my hand in in case something grabbed me back lol - You get the picture . Copious amounts of chlorine and other chemicals . Researched and found the Rock and Rocker bought and threw it in to fend for itself ( Following instructions ) Started out emptying every 15 minutes on one hour cycle ooohhh the crud and slime !!! Three bottles of Terminator algicide - Scrubbing with pole to loosen and more chlorine - Leaves and pie tree wisps dead algae galore BUT NOW after a week I can see my little robot zooming across the bottom of my blue (Still cloudy ) pool!!!! Ten star rating . I do not think a higher priced Dolphin unit could have performed better . Do not hesitate buying this robot . Did I mention the sand it has picked up ? The days of hooking up to the skimmer and manually sweeping OVER ! And I find it strangely satisfying to watch it zoom hither and fro . Does its job and am very happy .
