  • Easy to build and fun to drive around!
This is a fun and easy build -- when my husband saw me driving it around this afternoon, he said, "What, you're done already?" Well, I'm not COMPLETELY done -- I haven't downloaded the app to start programming it. But I'm driving it around with the controller and it's working just fine. Zooms forward and makes turns well; going backward it doesn't do so well. I've checked the gears and the treads, so not sure what's going on there, so will have to fiddle a bit. I think it's funny to see it turn its head. The LED eyes are a kick. If you don't look through the instructions ahead of time, you will have to do a bit of disassembly to change the "basic" eyes to the wired eyes, but it's not that complicated. The instruction book should have noted during the head assembly that if you want to do the lighted eyes what page to go ahead to. (In the attached photos, I hadn't redone the head to add the lights. One is after the No. 1 bags, the other is completed build.) As I said, the build is easy -- there are a couple of parts that are very similar, so you do have to pay attention in a few places. But since the robot is largely symmetrical, once you've got one side done, the other is super easy. Everything fit well. The controller is pretty cheap feeling, but it works. It's a little tricky to get the battery compartment open because you need a tiny screwdriver, and the plastic feels so brittle I worried I was going to crack the back of the battery compartment to open it. Unlike some sets, there are very few "extra" parts, so you do have to be careful not to lose any, especially since some of the pieces are unique. Feels pretty study. Driving it around everything held together all right. Arms are somewhat posable. Too bad the weapon doesn't light up! All in all, a lot of fun! ... show more

  • Zippy fun motorized track build.
The media could not be loaded. First, I'm only knocking it down a star because stickers were not in my box. My son said to comment that the arms are not motorized. The Head is motorized side to side, and the tracks are motorized, forward, backward and turning. I included a video showing that. The build was fun and my 12 year old loved it. Instructions were good and mostly easy to follow (had one confusion point trying to line up correct holes for the very long track supports). Otherwise a good build, fun and challenging but rewarding. I included a picture showing the instructions. The design is quite cool, and we both learned some new building block techniques (new ways of using old blocks) neither of us had ever seen utilized before. Very creative build. The blocks are fully compatible with other mainstream blocks. Tight clicking and firm holding. My son ran it all over the table and the floor and ran it into things (its fast), and nothing on the build came off. Its pretty solid. Took him a couple hours to build just picking at it slowly and taking his time. The lighting kit for the eyes is a nice touch. When building, you will build the head without the lights if you follow the instructions front to end. The lighting portion is at the very end of the instructions book. You will then go back and take apart the head and remove some parts to install the lighting kit if you choose to do so. I would have liked a heads up at the time of original build showing the with and without lights versions of building. But its nota big deal. Its only about 5 minutes of reworking after you get it done to install the lights. Its fast and easy. Just seemed silly not to mention it at the time you were originally building that there was an alternate build path at the time of original building. But like I said, less than 5 minutes to rework and install the lights. So not a big deal. My son likes leaving it near my computer and every now adn then suddenly making it turn its head to look at me trying to creep me out. lol. Its a very neat build. I dont see a lot of build kits with motorized legit tank tracks. Pretty awesome. Also, not only did it have all parts, it also came with a handful of extras in case you drop and lose some during building. My son loved it and thinks its really cool. But was a little bummed about not having the sticker sheet. But after a day of having it without the stickers, we both agreed, it looks really cool on its own without them, so it didn't matter that much. Definitely 5 stars. Awesome kit, cool design, motorized tracks, unique methods, compatible bricks and two thumbs up from the kid. ... show more

  • Fun Organized Building Kit
This is a great little building set. I enjoy puzzle style projects, and this one was very fun to put together. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and the pieces come organized in separate bags, which makes it much easier to find what you need during the build. Most of the parts snapped together well. I did have a little difficulty with a couple of pieces when assembling the head, but it wasn’t a major problem. I was happy to find that no pieces were missing, and I was able to complete the entire robot without any issues. One thing to note is that this set contains many small parts, so it would not be suitable for younger children. I have not tested the motor function yet as I am waiting for my batteries to arrive. I do not foresee any problems since everything else was as described. This is an enjoyable and satisfying build, especially for anyone who likes hands on projects or puzzle style kits. ... show more

  • Fun project for kids or adults
This building kit is a fun project and feels like a good mix of challenge and entertainment. The pieces fit together well, and once assembled, the robot has nice functionality with the remote control and programmable features. The LED eyes are a fun touch too. It seems well made overall and is a solid option for anyone who enjoys STEM-style kits or building sets. It also has a downloadable app that can be used along with it. This is an excellent value for the money! ... show more

  • Fun Build That Actually Gets Played With
This robot building kit was a big hit in our house. My son had a great time putting it together—more than with any other kit we’ve tried. The instructions were easy enough for him to follow, and the finished robot looks really cool with the LED eyes. The remote control and programmable features make it even more fun once it's built. It now sits on his desk and he plays with it every day, which says a lot for a building set. ... show more
