The aluminum top plate gives it a solid, premium look and feel, while the full-size layout with a dedicated number pad is perfect for anyone who wants all the keys without compromising functionality. I really like the combination of angular and rounded styling on this keyboard. The black keycaps give it a clean, modern appearance without making it look excessively aggressive or like it was modeled after a fighter jet. The dark colorway works especially well with the aluminum top plate and RGB lighting, giving it a traditional gaming look while still being restrained enough for an office. The aluminum top plate is one of the keyboard’s best features. It makes the body extremely rigid, with essentially no noticeable flex, and adds enough weight to keep it planted firmly on the desk. The large rubber feet are thick, high quality, and very grippy, so the keyboard does not slide around during typing or gaming. The attached cable is generously long, but it is not braided and is permanently connected to the keyboard. I would have preferred a detachable USB-C cable because it would be easier to replace if the cable were ever damaged. I really liked the Snowfall tactile switches in the R104, but they sound noticeably different in this keyboard. The aluminum plate appears to amplify their sound, making them louder and clickier than they are in other models. Most of the keys still feel solid, crisp, and pleasant to type on. They provide the tactile feedback I like without the sharp click mechanism of traditional blue switches. The space bar is the deal breaker for me. I am admittedly a hard typist, but its tone is dramatically different from the rest of the keyboard and much louder. It produces such a harsh, prominent sound that I almost cringe every time I press it. Since the space bar is used constantly, this is not something I can easily ignore during normal typing. I am not sure whether swapping the space-bar switch would completely solve the problem. A different switch might reduce some of the noise, but I suspect much of it comes from the large space bar bottoming out against the rigid aluminum plate. It may still be worth experimenting with another switch to see if it helps, but I'm not sure that will be sufficient. The keyboard includes a locking function, but instead of using a dedicated physical switch, it is activated through a key combination. That is not quite as convenient or obvious as a separate switch, but it still provides useful protection against accidental input from children, pets, or cleaning. There is no RGB lighting along the sides of the keyboard, although the keys themselves are backlit. The black shine-through keycaps display the lighting clearly and create a more dramatic appearance than the lighter colorway. I do not consider the lack of side lighting a major issue because the keyboard already provides plenty of illumination without becoming overly flashy. Overall, the keyboard itself feels exceptionally rigid, substantial, and well made. The regular Snowfall-equipped keys are clicky, solid, and enjoyable, but the unusually loud and "thuddy" space bar significantly hurts the typing experience. I liked these same switches much more in the R104, so the keyboard’s aluminum construction appears to be a major factor in the difference. ... show more
