This is working great, we replaced the same 15 year old hot water heater with this, same brand. Seems like they may last 15 years. So every 15 years you will have to replace this hot water heater

Purchased this Rinnai model to replace an older Rinnai unit that was nearing its useful life. Installed by a licensed plumber with no difficulties. In fact, the supply lines for hot/cold water and natural gas were in the exact configuration as the replaced unit. The unit works well, and overall I like it. But sometimes it goes cold for a few seconds and then gets really hot. No idea why. And if something is wrong and you need help, the company is useless and forces you to pay a fee to have someone come and diagnose it. They don’t even do basic troubleshooting. The media could not be loaded. So to start off with this water heater Does not accept returns at the time that I’m posting. They Shipped mine with FedEx and I’ve had bad luck with that company. Luckily, it showed up in really good shape. The venting for the exhaust is really hard to find the right parts. The internal pipe needs to be metal for the non-condensing and it requires a special concentric vent I found some parts on a different website and each one of the connections is really expensive. I have mixed feelings about purchasing this because I didn’t know how expensive the entire process would be. The unit itself. Seems good and has great track record. I just didn’t like that the whole process is really difficult. If you want to go with this unit, I really don’t think it’s a bad unit. I just want you to be aware of the whole process. Also, another note is that it requires it to be plugged in so not only does it need gas, but it will also need electricity and also, you might want to upgrade your gas line to a three-quarter inch and gas valve to be able to give it the proper flow that It needs converting over from a tank water heater. After our plumber installed the water heater, I turned on the heater, turned on shower got in,suds up and the hot water ended ! I went and turned off the water heater and turned it on again and went and turned on the shoer water was still cold. Unhappy customer. We quickly ordered a reputable brand from Amazon We hooked it up and everything is works beautifully, I packaged up the first one and come to find out it was to late to return the first one! ... show more
