Bought this to go with the Rikon 10-inch band saw. After reading the reviews on this I was actually reluctant to order as there seemed to be so much wrong with it. The pictures showed the numbers upside down and there were numerous issues with fit and function. But, after numerous searches for other options (of which there were really none) I had to come back to this one. The miter I received was excellent. Out of the box it assembles easily, fits the saw table track perfectly, and slides easily with no wiggle. The body and face are a single piece of cast aluminum and it's well made. The face is a perfect 90 degrees both to the table and the saw blade. The numbers on the back side are right-side up like they should be (maybe a design change?); a small pointer sets the angle and can be adjusted if out of alignment. The handle, which needs to be loosened and tightened when setting cut angles, is a little too close to the face for my medium-sized hands, but it's workable. The face is 1-3/4 inches high by 5-1/5 inches long; there are two holes in the face that allows attachment of a sacrificial/support board (I went with 2 x 15 inches). On the one hand, it's too bad Rikon went with the 5/8-inch slot here, but they at least did a good job on this miter. Took 1/2-point off on the review because this miter is definitely too expensive; almost like Rikon knows they're pretty much the only option here unless you make your own (which I almost did).

I own a !0" Rikon band saw that did not have a miter gauge. The miter slot on the table is 5/8" wide. I do have a couple of "5/8 inch" miter gauges that came with other equipment but they a very loose in the miter slot and are made of plastic. This miter gauge is about as basic as one can get, but it will do the job. It is made of metal, and the handle locks it into the angle you set. The miter bar fits the miter slot perfectly. It has fence mounting holes. There are no detent for locking the angle, but as I said before the handle does a good job of locking the protractor where you set it. This miter gauge is just what I was looking for. It won't take up much space on the band saw table but is definitely usable. I would purchase this again, but it appears to me that unless I lose it or make a habit of dropping it, I won't need to buy another one. For someone who wants a miter gauge that fits and is sturdy, I would recommend this item.

I use this one with my baby bandsaw. Out of the box it had approximately 0.5 degree of play in the t-slot, which I fixed with a precise application of duct tape to both ends. That reduced the play to the point of being undetectable with tools that I have in the workshop. The body scrapes against the table of the bandsaw, which I fixed with another piece of duct tape. As a bonus, my kit was supplied with a swappable standard-sized miter slot bar which will be used to build whatever jig I will think of next. Highly recommended.

It's the only choice for the baby bandsaw, which is a nice tool from Rikon, it's to bad the engineers at Rikon were hungover the day they put a 5/8" slot in the table on this saw--ruins it for my uses really--suffice it to say there are no good accessories available for this saw--as for the miter gage, it is cheaply made, and works like it. You adjust the flimsy angle indicator with a Phillips screwdriver, and that's it--use your square to be sure the gage is as square as you can get it, and then adjust the pointer accordingly. Anybody know how to mill out a 5/8" slot to 3/4"?

I recently purchased a Rikon 10-305 Bandsaw With Fence, 10-Inch at a local Woodcraft store. The primary use for the saw will be for light duty cutting of relatively small pieces of softwoods and thin plywood sheet; these materials will typically fall into a range of 1/16 - 1/2 inch thick (1 - 12mm). The bandsaw came with an adjustable aluminum fence and a tilting table with miter gauge slots. It did not include an adjustable miter gauge. I ordered the miter gauge separately on the Internet from Amazon. The dial increments are in whole degrees, so it's approximately accurate to within one-half of a degree. The gauge required a slight adjustment to the screw-mounted pointer to align it 90 degrees with the table slot and fence. This was easily accomplished with a screw driver and a small 90 degree triangle. There was a slight amount of play between the table slot and the tracking bar on the miter gauge which could be eliminated by drilling and tapping two adjustment screws into the ends of the tracking bar; but that "do-it-yourself" modification is probably beyond the needs of most customers who buy the 10 inch bandsaw. Even without the addition of adjustment screws, I'm pleased with the performance of the miter gauge. It's a useful and inexpensive addition to the saw that I'd recommend for all buyers. My only "complaint" is that Rikon should include the miter gauge with the saw, even if it means correspondingly increasing the price of the saw to cover the cost of the miter gauge.
