  • It does what it needs to do...
Size: 4-Pack Color: Silver Gray
A lot of the low star reviews are saying the base of the clamp isn't square with the side. This is true on the clamps I received, too. Funny thing, unless you're really picky, that doesn't matter. What matters is if you can clamp your material pieces so that they form a right angle with each other. I wouldn't say it's foolproof, because I've seen fools do some really stupid things; however, I would say that for a reasonably intelligent person that isn't overly picky, these clamps totally do what they need to do. The two sides form a right angle with each other and allow you to connect your work at right angles on a wide variety of pieces and joint types. If you push the outsides of the clamp against the outside of your joint and tighten the head until you can get both sides of the head in light contact with the inside of your joint, then line up your pieces just right and put pressure with one hand to hold the work in place while tightening the clamp with the other, it will hold your material at a right angle. While doing the above, the base of the clamp just need to be close enough that the head is holding the work piece. Unless you want your joint askew, the base should probably not be in full flush contact with the material. ... show more

  • I wish I'd bought this set first
Size: 4-Pack Color: Silver Gray
I bought a cheap little version of this clamp a while back, but those couldnt even handle a 1x4 without removing the rubber cover. These awesome clamps are worth the price, and they handle 2x4s with ease. For any hobbyist who doesn't have an endless supply of tools at their disposal, this is a set of clamps worth having. ... show more

  • EXACTLY the same as the "other brand" that costs $5 less
Size: 1-Pack Color: Silver Gray
I’m giving this 4-stars just because it’s exactly the same as at least one other that cost $5 less. Performance, and price compared to others that are probably made in the same factory but sold as a different brand here on Amazon, is still 5-stars. Pictures are of this product and the other one that costs $5 less. ACCURACY/PRECISION: I used my Milwaukee aluminum speed square and my Husky digital caliper to test for square and uniform thickness of material. I’ve verified the square and caliper against machining tools and through plenty of projects I’ve used them on that ended up square and level (using a level, too, of course). These clamps will work perfectly fine for what I'll use them for - woodworking (picture frames to large projects), general home carpentry (e.g. hold onto a stud while positioning a cross-support), and light welding of square tube steel. NOTE WHEN MEASURING: The head pivots on essentially all 3 axis. Because of this, the square must be clamped plumb and square with respect to the clamp’s ball head and surfaces. If the square is off from this point, when tightened, it will pivot as it is supposed to. Then, because it is no longer plumb, you may see a slight, roughly 1/32" gap. This is an artefact of improper measuring, not the clamp. Keep that in mind as you read reviews and look at pictures. And either way, 1/32" is acceptable in construction, finish carpentry (some demand 1/64"), and in just about every project we do outside very fine detail work (which you may use other types of clamps for anyways). WORD OF CAUTION: Don't rely on reviews to determine whether the product YOU receive is square. Check them yourself while in the return period using a trusted measuring device. Tools like a speed square (L-shaped) and square (triangle) are two of the most basic and heavily used tools in any builder/carpenter/woodworker, etc. toolkit. I'd say that someone purchasing these probably should have these two tools first. With some clamps they can even do the same things these clamps do (albeit with a little more effort). They can in fact do all sorts of great things beyond just checking for square or making quick measurements instead of using a tape measure (guide track for any circular saw to make perfect cuts, etc.) OTHER OPTIONS: After researching clamps, I purchased this one and "another brand" that looks identical, but was sold by another vendor. We're all familiar with Amazon selling the same thing with a different brand logo on it. This case is no different. After receiving them, I can say that the clamps are identical and probably were made in the same factory. The boxes have slight differences, though the colors, fonts, general design, etc., have no discernable differences to my eye. Because the difference is only 5 bucks, I'll keep them both and buy two more of the less expensive one. I'd venture a guess that some of these that are a different color are also made in the me place. I wanted grey because it won't show scratches and wear as much as aluminum of a another color. ... show more

This jig is a God sent8. It works perfectly and is ensuring, that newbie builders, have square corners. I couldn't be more please and excited to build the walls to the Swim Spa enclosure on our own.

  • Easy to use but do not hold heavy items
Size: 4-Pack Color: Silver Gray
it was easy to use. but it did not serve my purpose quite well as I used it to clamp a 4-inch thick log. it was tumbling down, so had a give a slight body to hold it together. I will suggest this device only if you want to hold a lighter or less thick wooden plant

  • Need 3 hands to use
Size: 4-Pack Color: Silver Gray
Clamps work great for holding boards together on a 90. But getting them there can be difficult when working solo. When the clamps are loose the inner piece moves around a lot which makes it hard to get it on the joint while holding boards together at the same time.

  • Disappointed, but effective in some instances
Size: 4-Pack Color: Silver Gray
I've tried working with 1/2", 3/4", 1" and 1-1/2" wood pieces and have yet to find any that these would hold firmly and tightly together. It seems the jaws are not plumb and true. Also, the handles are so long you corners must be almost 36" apart to be able to use two of these on opposite angles. Save your money and get the Harbor Freight exterior clamps. 6/14/23 Update: So, they aren't as bad as my initial impression was. The long handles are still an issue with using them to build apairy woodenware, which was the reason I bought them in the first place. If you were building a bed or something else large, I'm sure the handles would not be an issue. Also, I have learned to finaggle the two pieces of wood in order to get better alignments, so I added two more stars. ... show more
