I’ve put these through the wringer since I’ve received them and I must say, I am quite pleased with this purchase. Bought them to use with a PlayStation Portal, and they’ve more than reached my expectations for half the price of the Pulse wireless. Unless you just HAVE to have wireless, save half the price and get something just as good (if not possibly better self preference wise). These Rigs provide a true immerse surround sound with a comfort quality perfect for gaming long periods of time. Never have to worry about changing them of course (First better). As well since they’re wired, latency does not exist. (See, second better!) I also tried them with a Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5 as simple as plug and play (faster than worrying about connecting and reconnecting with Bluetooth…third better!) I have not tried out the mic yet. But I didn’t necessarily buy these for that purpose. But as far as quality, versatility for the few devices I’ve tried them on, amazing sound, and did I mention the price?! I feel like I came out on top with the Rigs!! ... show more

    • A solid 4.5 review!
Platform For Display: PlayStation Edition: Black
(4.5/5) After spending a good amount of time gaming with the RIG R5 Spear Pro HS on PS5, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I picked it up for around $60, and at that price it’s one of the best values I’ve found in a gaming headset. The sound quality is very good. While it doesn’t have the level of detail you’d expect from much more expensive headsets or premium IEMs, it delivers clear, balanced audio with great positional awareness. Footsteps and directional cues are easy to pick out, making it a solid choice for competitive shooters and extraction games. One of the biggest strengths is its simplicity. Just plug it into the controller, flip the microphone down, and you’re ready to play. After experimenting with separate microphones and more complicated setups, this was a refreshing change. The microphone sounds clear, and using it with my Scuf controller is especially convenient since I can control mute and volume directly from the controller without taking my hands off the game. The headset also has an excellent weight-to-fit balance. It feels secure without being heavy, and the comfort actually improved the more I wore it. The headband and overall fit have been great during longer gaming sessions. There are a few things keeping it from being a perfect score. The fabric on the ear cushions felt a little scratchy at first. It became less noticeable over time, but I still think softer materials would make the headset feel more premium. I also wish the headset cable used a 90-degree connector instead of a straight plug, since a right-angle cable would sit more naturally when holding the controller. Another small quirk is the inline volume wheel. There’s a noticeable resistance or “click” just before the maximum volume setting. The volume level right before that notch is noticeably lower than the true maximum, so I found the best setup was leaving the headset volume at maximum and adjusting the overall volume through the PS5. It’s not a major problem once you get used to it, but it feels a little awkward. Pros: * Excellent value for the money * Very good sound quality * Great competitive FPS performance * Comfortable and secure fit * Lightweight without feeling cheap * Clear microphone * True plug-and-play setup * Convenient controller mute and volume controls when paired with a Scuf controller Cons: * Ear cushion fabric could be softer * Straight cable would be better as a right-angle connector * Inline volume wheel has an awkward safety notch before maximum volume * No companion EQ app for users who enjoy customizing audio Overall, I’m really happy with this headset. At around $60, it’s an outstanding value and easy to recommend. If it were selling closer to full retail, I’d compare it more closely against higher-end options, but at the price I paid, it delivers far more than I expected. It’s comfortable, sounds great for competitive gaming, and most importantly, it just works. ... show more

    • Only lasted two months.

I bought this headset in February for my husband and he really loved it and preferred it over a more expensive one we have but it just broke on us today. My husband went to put it on today and he can only hear out of one ear. It’s only been two months so I’m pretty disappointed, it has amazing capabilities but to only last two months is insane. ... show more
