  • Bad quality.
Wife bought this as a Christmas gift for me. It was set up for me so some of the paperwork was inadvertently discarded including the warranty card. I’m not an avid wood worker so I literally used this table saw about once or twice a year and cut a couple of pieces of plywood and a few 2x4’s. 4th year in I was cutting a 2x4 and it kicks back on me. Took it back to Home Depot for repairs. Seems the gears were damaged and the cost to repair was $325. A new one is $350. I called Rigid and explained the issue but they were set on not covering under their lifetime warrant. I certainly understand the warranty card issue but at the same time, the usage did not justify the damage. If I used it once or twice a month and cut lots of wood I would probably think different. But I used it less than 20 times in 4 years. I think items like this need an hour counter so you can validate the usage. Then based on the hours used you can make a better determination on the warranty. Will not buy their product again. ... show more

  • My rating is more for Ridgid's " lifetime warranty'" than the saw
I purchased this saw for a new home Im building and sold my old reliable skil. After 1 1/2 weeks of use the on/off switch crapped out. After calling Ridgid and telling them that I was sure it was the switch ( after 40 + years of carpentry and power tool experience) ,I was told to bring it to a Ridgid repair shop. I asked if I could be sent the switch to fix it myself to limit my down time and money lost due to a "broken" NEW saw. But the Ridgid rep didn't care about my money loss and my loss of time due to a defective tool and insisted it had to go to a repair shop. So after I purchased an $11.00 replacement switch from Amazon and fixed it myself you can be sure this was my last Ridgid tool purchase. To be honest I do like the saw but this service rep and their warranty SUCKS ! A warranty like this for a business person should mean a lot more ... show more

  • Wouldn't Recommend
I've been using this table saw for 4-5 years now and have never been really all that happy with it. I use it mostly to do some amateur wood working and construction projects around the house. Pros: - The stand makes it really easy to setup and tear down and move around. - The large working surface is really nice. Cons: - The fence doesn't sit straight. The back of the fence always clamps closer to the blade than the front, so it pushes the cut wood farther into the blade and binds up a little. I've adjusted the fence as far as it will go and it's still not straight. I have to use a square to hold the fence straight while I clamp it. I've read several other people having the same problem. - It gets really hard to move the blade up and down. At first I thought it was just sawdust in the driver screw, so I took the saw apart and cleaned the screw really well with mineral spirits. It still binds up. - The motor is weaker than I would have expected. It struggles to cut even soft woods if your material is deeper than about 1 1/2 inches. I've tried using a 6" dado blade on it to cut a 3/8" x 1/2" rabbet out of the corner of the wood and it really struggled with even that. That should have been an easy cut. -Overall the saw just feels cheap. I finally decided to give this one away and go get a DeWalt. ... show more

  • Good basic saw
I bought this 4 1/2 years ago from HD primarily because of the warranty and I need a table saw right away. My old saw, a $98 Ryobi that was 8 years old and had gone through several house remodels and was left outside through an entire Maine winter finally died. I was using it to build kichen cabinets and other finish work. With the right blade it gave super smooth exact cuts although setting the fence was always an issue. The new Ridgid saw didn't cut anywhere as smooth as the Ryobi, even with the same blades. The fence sets accurately every time and the expandable table is an extra feature. The measuring tape is quite accurate. After 41/2 years the lead screw that raises & lowers the blade started to bind. WD40 helped for a while then it seized completely. Now for the nightmare: HD's website says if it's registered bring it in to the Tool Rental center for service or replacement. I did and was told no - bring it to the 'local' Ridgid repair center - 102 miles away. I called the repair center - a lawnmower repair shop in Tampa and was told 3-4 weeks. I could have bought a similar Ryobi for $100 less but chose the Ridgid because of the 'Lifetime' warranty. It'll cost me more than that in time and gas. For all practiacal purposes the warranty is garbage so I wouldn't choose Ridgid because of the warranty. PROS - decent general purpose saw, portable yet sturdy CONS - warranty not worth the extra cost of the saw ... show more
