  • it was good
Size: B3
It's a pretty good MP. Wasn't expecting much because of the price but it does the job. Really great beginner mp for straight up beginners or someone who is switching from maybe tenor, alto or Bari. It does have a slight bit of resistance for more control but nothing a beginner can't handle. If your more of an intermediate player like myself this is definitely great for its price and is an upgrade from a stock mp but there are still many mp better than this but for the price it plays well and gets the job done so if you're thinking about buying it, I recommend it. ... show more

  • Beginners
Size: B5
I would say this is a great mouthpiece for beginners or a replacement mouthpiece. The material the mouthpiece is made from I really don't care for.

  • It's a standard mouthpiece
Size: B5
I've noticed with the mouthpiece, you'll get an okay sound with it. It works better with the rico orange box reeds. Depend on what size you buy. I'm using size 2 on a B5, which is a medium chamber mouthpiece. Any higher reed strength is impossible for me. I still think yamaha mouthpieces are better, but if you don't have much money and looking for The cheapest option, then I'd give this one a try. Just know that a rico ligature won't work for this. It needs a standard soprano ligature. Just don't buy the rico one. It will not fit. B5 has a .60 tip opening and a yahmaha one has about .48 if im not mistaken. If you're used to size 6 soprano mouthpieces, then you won't need to change ur reed setup. Just know these medium chambers have more resistance than the yahmha ones. ... show more

  • A superior mouthpiece value.
Size: B3
Because the comfort, playability, and sound characteristics of mouthpieces are almost purely subjective, I can only offer a practical evaluation of this mouthpiece. It is very well made from very tough polycarbonate type plastic. It has precisely matched side rails and a properly curved tip rail. Many of the cheaper Asian mouthpieces have a tip rail curve which disagrees with standard reed and reed trimmer curves. A brass mouthpiece will show the effects of colliding with a hard surface, these just bounce. Plastic mouthpieces are of a larger diameter than metal, and require a larger ligature. The B chamber size along with the 3 opening and a moderate baffle, make for a good general purpose mouthpiece with a very favorable cost/benefit ratio. ... show more

  • Best to test on a decent quality soprano, but seems good
Size: B3
So I had a straight soprano that I got a long time ago, and it was cheap/not so good. Got around to testing if this mouthpiece will make it play better, but it might have been the sax itself being why it was suddenly flatter (longer mouthpiece/tighter neck fit) and low notes didn’t speak. I now have a curved soprano that’s a quite good Jean Paul model. Haven’t tested this mouthpiece on it, though my sax’s pads and everything seemed well-sealing. It may work well on my curved sax :) But anyways don’t blame the mouthpiece right away for bad performance if the instrument’s cheaply made, lol. The mouthpiece itself seems pretty nice and well made, by my thoughts. ... show more

  • Best Mouthpiece for your money.
Size: B5
I use to play alto and tenor Sax. And I happen to pick up a nice soprano sax without a mouthpiece. After asking my friends around, they have recommended me this, saying this is an ideal mouthpiece for beginner to amateur. The size B5 wasn't giving too much pressure on my lips. It had just the right tension to play. This may vary depending on the player so don't take my word for it. It's just how I felt when I used this mouthpiece. Also, the tone was great. Sometimes the material feels very cheap. Very plasticky. But I guess that's what you get for this price, compared to an expensive mouthpiece. But definitely worth the money if you are learning and want something that will last a long time. ... show more

  • Graftonite Mouthpiece a good first step up from manufacturer mouthpiece
Size: B5
This reasonably priced mouthpiece is a good first step up from a very cheap mouthpiece that came with an inexpensive soprano sax I recently bought. I'm an experienced alto and tenor player, and wanted to add the soprano to my repertoire without shelling out too much money......yet. Eventually I'll step up to a more professional mouthpiece and a Selmer or equivalent horn, however, this Rico Graftonite mouthpiece is very acceptable for the price. ... show more
