Description

When it’s showtime (or class time), don’t risk playing with warped, cracked or moldy reeds. With the D’Addario Woodwinds (formerly Rico) Multi-Instrument Reed Storage Case, you can be confident that your clarinet or saxophone reeds are safely and securely held at an ideal 72% relative humidity. When placed in the storage case, reeds are held snugly to a grooved surface, which prevents warping. The airtight gasket ensures a proper seal, which keeps reeds safe and stable when traveling. The slim and sturdy case holds eight of any size clarinet or saxophone reeds, from E♭ clarinet to baritone sax. Simply insert the included Reed Revitalizer Pack into the lid and you will have a clean and low maintenance way of keeping your reeds fresh with minimal wetting. The humidification pack helps extend the longevity of a reed and prevent warping and cracking by automatically adding or reducing the level of humidity within the case. Each pack will last approximately 45-60 days and then simply replace with a Reed Revitalizer Pack refill. For nearly a century, the name Rico has been synonymous with quality reeds. Now part of the D’Addario family of musical instruments and accessories, D’Addario Woodwinds has revamped the reed-making process to create the reed of choice among all levels of clarinetists and saxophonists, played in the world's most respected symphonies, conservatories, and jazz clubs.

  • Great reed case
Style: Clarinet & Saxophone
My jazz director is also a sax player and this is what he uses and recommended it. Easy to use, functional, holds 8 reeds, good quality and reeds fit great. Get a reed humidity pack with it to keep your reeds lasting longer and better in shape. I play on Robertos Winds 2.5 soft reeds, which I don't think Amazon sells unfortunately, but my local store PM Woodwinds does so I can order those there. ... show more

  • Daddario reed case
Style: Clarinet & Saxophone
The best reed case I have ever tried it has a humidifier that keeps the reeds in a good condition and so many professional players are using these cases because they are first of all have and affordable price and they have a humidifier that no matter where place you go, the reeds does not change with the weather. And you and it fits eight reeds. And if you need to fit more reeds, you can buy another one because the price is very cheap comparing to other clarinet reed cases. Plus what I like about it that the shape inside the case you can fit either Bass Clarinet reed because the ship from inside is wide so it fit, or E flat Clarinet or B flat Clarinet. And what’s nice about it that it works also for saxophone reeds. Thank you for this wonderful reed case. ... show more

  • I'm officially a convert
Style: Clarinet & Saxophone
I've been using Vandoren reeds with a Selmer reed case for a number of years now. I heard about some of the pros using Rico reeds and thought, "Really? Rico?? Isn't Rico the default brand that beginners play on before they discover what real reeds are like?" But I tried a few different ones, and I'm now using them instead of Vandoren. I liked the Rico Reserve Classic reeds the best, but I also got some Grand Concert reeds, which come with one of the humidifier packs included in the box. I tried using it with my Selmer reed case in a ziploc bag (I would always keep the case in a ziploc bag, anyway). At first, I couldn't tell too much of a difference in the reeds, but when I stopped using the humidifier pack, my reeds seemed worse. I tried another humidifier pack, but it hardened up too quickly. I think it was because the ziploc bag was used and not completely sealed tight. It was also a little cumbersome to have the humidifier pack loose in the ziploc bag. That made me want to try one of these Rico reed cases which were designed to hold the humidifier packs. As I looked at this product online, I thought, "huh, it's plastic... that's kind of cheap" and "the reeds aren't kept on a glass surface, so how do I know that they won't get warped or something?" I was skeptical and still too attached to my Selmer case. But after thinking about it a while and considering other positive reviews on amazon and elsewhere, I decided, "Well, it's less than $20, so it's worth a shot. If I don't like it, I don't have to keep using it." When the produce arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. It was better quality than I expected. I wouldn't say that it's super high quality like the reed cases with wood and velvet, but it's pretty good for the price. Although it's plastic, the outside has a soft feel to it, and the case closes securely with a thin rubber ring along the edge to keep in the moisture. The humidifier pack fits perfectly in its designated place, and the reed slots are numbered. Because the case can fit multiple sizes of reeds, it came with a set of adhesive labels for different instruments (Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, etc.). There's a small rectangle on the back of the case which is where the label is intended to go. Since I just needed it for clarinet reeds and nothing else, I didn't bother putting a label on it, but I was pleased to know that Rico was considerate to give me the option. At first I wasn't sure what I would think about the individual slots for the reeds and the rubber bands and plastic backing. I was used to the flat piece of glass in my Selmer case. But after using it for a while, the reeds are working great, and the slots make it easier to keep track of each one. I find myself playing on more of my reeds than before. After using the case for a few weeks now, I can say that it's great to use, and I would certainly recommend it to other players, beginners or advanced or well seasoned. ... show more

  • Great reed case!
Style: Clarinet & Saxophone
Great for all different single instrument reeds. I hold alto, soprano, and clarinet reeds together in one case. The new Boveda hydro packs are slightly larger than the slot, but it still mostly fits!

  • High Quality, but Fragile
Style: Clarinet & Saxophone
I purcgased this about a year ago and it definitely was a great buy it helos to keep my reeds safe, and they last longer. The case is very fragile though, within the first week of having it it fell off of my stand and since it was open the tray holding the reeds in broke, it now doesnt stay clipped inside and it just sits there, other than that the case has held up pretty well over the past year or so. Another problem ive had is that sometimes the cases hinge closes down in my reeds, (I play bari and the reeds fit with very little clearance) and it killed off a whole set of four reeds, I'm pretty sure this happens onlg because of the fact that my case is broken. but this is definitely a good purchase and I would recommend it. ... show more

  • Effective, lightweight: stock up on the humidity packs (last only a month at best).
Style: Clarinet & Saxophone
Excellent and light reed storage and together with the replaceable humidity control packs (replace every 4 weeks or so) effectively preserve the correct humidity level for the stored reeds, helping to prolong the reed life.

  • Yess
Style: Clarinet & Saxophone
I love to soak, humidify, and really break in my reeds. (If you haven't started doing that.. then begin now) This case is good for my process. It makes my reeds last so long because theyre nice and dehumidified. Compact. Easy to open. Recommend

  • Best I've owned
Style: Clarinet & Saxophone
This is the best reed case I've owned so far. I play tenor, alto and soprano saxophones (and occasionally clarinet) and this case can accommodate all sizes of reeds. The humidity control means the reeds stay "ready to play" and last much longer. Although it's the largest case I've owned, the size is rather slim and compact, while still holding up to eight reeds. The outside surface has a nice, grippy "rubber" feel which is pleasing to the touch. The case closes securely yet is easy to open. If I had to mention a negative, I wish they made one with more reed slots, as I never seem to have enough. But overall, this is the best reed case I've owned, a pleasure to use, and I'm very happy with my purchase. As a pro saxophonist, I highly recommend it. ... show more
