  • Very study and nice product
Color: Black Size: 8ft - 4 Pack
I got these as camper tie downs. I’ve seen a couple reviews where people are using them the same way. They've been great for me. The hooks are really thick and seem like they’ll have no problems holding up. They come with a very strong Velcro strap to keep the straps wrapped well and they’re holding the straps secure enough not to move while I’m daily driving it with the camper on down the freeway. Super happy with the product! ... show more

  • Rhino Review and Comparison to Harbor Freight Tie Downs
Color: Black Size: 8ft - 4 Pack
I've purchased a number of Rhino products over the last few years and without exception they have been very well made with quality materials used in their construction. That being said, I was hesitant about purchasing their ratcheting straps because of the cost over what I could pick other straps up for. I decided to make the purchase after some research and frustration with a brand new set of similar ratcheting straps from Harbor Freight. My Rhino straps arrived yesterday and I can tell you that in a side by side comparison the Rhino straps are far superior in every way. Although the straps appear close to the same in photos; it is a different story in hand. You can immediately feel the difference in the quality of the Rhino straps; the strap itself is thicker, which correlates to the higher work load and breaking strength. The differences in the straps continues down to the quality of the stitching. However, the real difference between the two sets is in the construction and use of the ratchet. All four ratchets on the Harbor Freight set bound up and failed to release the strap, brand new, out of the package. I had to use lubricant and rotate them with a screwdriver to get the mechanism to loosen up and start to work. In contrast, the ratcheting mechanism on the Rhino straps worked as it should and did so with ease. The quality and operation of the ratchet really demonstrated the difference in manufacturing. The handle and pull lever on the Rhino ratchet was also very well made and easy to use. Well, from quality we come to value; to be fair, the Harbor Freight set was $19.99, less with their 20% off coupon. The Rhino set (4-Pack) is $59.97; making them more expensive by a wide margin. You can also find really nice offerings at a lower cost from other manufacturers here on Amazon; such as Power Tye and Lockdown. The Rhino straps are the most expensive that I have come across; are they worth it? Yes, and no. In my opinion, they are the best you can buy. The four soft loops and storage bag included with the set increases the value; however, the price point is still a bit high. If you throw in the super easy to activate lifetime warranty then you increase the value again. What does it cover though and what kind of hoops do you have to jump through for a replacement? All in all I would say these are a solid value at $49.99 without tax and including Prime shipping. As it worked out, buying a set cost me just under $65.00 with tax and Prime shipping. That being said, the quality is evident in these straps. For example, I bought my bike at a dealership and they threw in a new set of tie downs. After the salesperson helped load the bike I broke out my cam lock Rhino straps with integrated soft loops; after using them his comment was, "These are the nicest straps I've ever seen." If you're just hauling stuff and need to secure it pick up some straps here on Amazon or hit Harbor Freight; if you do that, bring a can of WD40. If you have an expensive bike or other item(s) to secure then it makes sense to invest in the best straps you can buy so click that Buy It Now button. ... show more

  • Great gear!
Color: Black Size: 8ft - 4 Pack
Wow, nice straps, nice hardware, and a bag to put it all in. The straps are soft and supple and better quality than seen on typical ratchets. The loops have one twisted end which makes them work perfectly for a girth hitch. These are definitely larger than most ratchet straps, but not into the semi-truck category. All the hardware is smoothly finished with no sharp edges. Because of the thickness of the straps you can't take a lot of turns with the ratchet mechanism or the straps will start to interfere with the locking mechanism, which could cause an unpleasant surprise. It's not a problem, you can tighten the ratches down just fine, but you should ensure that you are fairly close to your end tightness before you start working the ratchet, and not just ratchet away forever, which as a contractor I have seen happen a lot, LOL. ... show more

  • More versatile than straps with integrated soft-ties.
Color: Black Size: 8ft - 4 Pack
The current trend in ratchet straps is to incorporate a D-Ring sewn into the tie-down strap, so that you can, if you desire, loop the strap around your bike and connect the hook to the d-ring. The idea, I guess, is that you don't have to have a separate soft-strap! That's great, in theory, and works fine if the straps don't have to be any shorter than a few feet! But in practice, often we need shorter straps, like for securing the rear end of a bike to a trailer tie-down close to the bike's rear wheel! And when the strap has an integrated soft-tie, the strap's shortest length is made longer by one-half the distance between the D-ring and the end of the strap. So, if you're using a strap on a small bike, or on the rear where the distance between your tie-down loop and your bike is only a couple feet, you're hosed! Newer straps with soft-ties built in won't go that short!! This set is more traditional, in that instead of integrating the soft-tie into the tie-down, they include separate soft-tie straps. I much prefer this method, so I was happy to buy this set of straps after learning the hard way that the other set I bought wouldn't get short enough!! Although imported, these straps are nonetheless very strong and seemingly well made. I carried two motorcycles on my Kendon trailer from Texas to Montana and back, pulling them behind my RV. The straps did their job perfectly! The spring clip retainer isn't terribly strong...but it doesn't need to be! It's just there to prevent a hook from falling off if the bike's suspension compresses over a bump. If you're one of the people that prefer not cinch their bikes down firmly...instead letting them 'float' on their almost totally uncompressed suspension...then you should be happy that there are spring clips to keep your hooks in place when you hit a big bump. Personally, I'm not a fan of that method...I cinch my bikes down pretty tightly, and always have (40+ years). Still, I find the retention clips are a good idea, even if my straps are unlikely to loosen enough to ever need them! But do understand that the clips reduce the 'opening' of the hook area. On my Kendon trailer, I was just barely able to get the hook around the frame rail far enough to let the spring clip close again. If the frame tubes on my trailer had been even just a little bit thicker, the retainers would not have closed! I did have some trouble, initially, when releasing the straps. Pulling the handle all the way back into the release position, the straps wouldn't easily 'unroll'. A couple drops of lubricant (I used garage door lubricant because I had it handy) between the metal parts made them work smoothly. All in all, I feel these are nice straps, and if I had a need, I'd buy them again! ... show more
