  • Great for playing classics
Style: RBD-RG505-Gray
Really nice and bright screen - wish it weren’t Android based since the Linux based handhelds have a more cohesive experience. Comes with a unbranded SD card but I recommend getting something branded like SanDisk for peace of mind. I use a 1TB SD card and the system reads it without issue. Regarding games - everything up to Dreamcast runs well - GameCube not so much, haven’t tried PlayStation 2 but I expect it’ll run worse than GameCube. The built in experience isn’t great - I opted to install LaunchBox for Android since I use it on PC and I can import my collection similarly - art and all. It can fit in larger pockets but wouldn’t call it pocket portable like the RG353. I have no issue with the non-stacked buttons but some may given the awkward positioning compared to stacked buttons. For comfort I purchased these little thumb stick covers (B071FMCLZ7) to increase the stick height. Makes it easier to play games that use the analog stick like 3D platformers and fighters. Overall a good handheld with nice hardware - the only items I would change is support for Linux and maaaybe some stacked triggers. ... show more

  • Hits and misses
Style: RBD-RG505-Gray
For the most part it does the job. PS2 is a little clunky,Yakuza ran a little sluggish but with frame renderer ran perfect but a little too fast...wish there was an in between setting..Wii and Gamecube run really well surprisingly. 3DS runs okay, some frame skips but no lag. DS runs perfect and so does PSP. Overall a good device. ... show more

  • Affordable retro device w/problems (Update)
Style: RBD-RG505-Gray
Pros - Easy to setup - Comes with a lot of games - Good size (I have big hands) - Nice picture quality (I mostly tried GBA games). - Quick download speeds Cons - The bumper buttons are too close - My original device came with it not being able to play sound out speakers. It has a headphone symbol as the device thinks headphones are plugged in. (Still no word on a fix for this, I will most likely return this device). - I contacted the seller and they sent me a replacement unit and the new unit works as advertised. I was surprised with how fast they resolved this issue. - The analog sticks could be taller, they are kind of a pain to get to Overall besides the sound issue, I like this device. It was easy to get started and as I don’t care to really play N64, GameCube, or more advanced consoles on this device it’s perfect for what I need. This device also plays PSP games pretty well. Since I have a device that does what it’s supposed to do I believe this device is a solid 3.8 - 4 stars. ... show more

  • Might not work completely as you would hope. Still great for most retro games in the SD card.
Style: RBD-RG505-Gray
The media could not be loaded. It’s ok. Great to play games up to Nintendo DS era. I am especially happy to play the older pokemon games such as Pokemon Yellow and Crystal. However, some games that I really want to play is not available in the SD card and some of the game ROMS aren’t compatible with the emulators, such as “Zelda: Twilight Princess” just force close the console. Update: some reason the Pokemon games GBA can’t save or can’t find save files. Possibly I have to jiggle around bathe console, but for now. I can’t enjoy Pokemon Fire Red, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald ... show more

  • Arrived scratched
Style: RBD-RG505-Turquoise
Product is solid and performance is good. Buttons are wonderful. Sadly, mine arrived with a nice big scratch on the screen, and I will be returning it. I suspect it occurred during transit, because my unit arrived loose in the box as the lid had come off in transit.

  • Great retro handheld
Style: RBD-RG505-Gray
I love this handheld. It works pretty flawless on systems up to N64 and PSP. Everything below it (PS1, Dreamcast, Super Nintendo, and everything else) work perfectly. The only game that seemed to lag a little was Killer Instinct for N64 since that's the most processor demanding game. The controls on it feel fantastic and are super responsive. I've owned a lot of emulator handhelds like this over the years and the biggest issue is normally the controller. The only negative is trying to use the analog sticks with the shoulder buttons. You need some pretty long fingers (which I have) and it's still challenging to hold. You wont have any issue with D-pad games at all. I found a 3D printed controller grip on Etsy that gives nice contoured handles sort of like a PS2 controller. It's definitely worth it and makes using the analog sticks much easier. For a front end loader, I recommend downloading Daijisho. It automatically pulls in all the artwork for every game once you set it up and gives the whole thing a nice appearance. You can download it for free on the Google Play store. There's some treat Daijisho setup videos on Youtube. ... show more
