Here's what I learned setting these out. Some of this advice is applicable to other similarly designed solar garden lights. First - when you unbox these, you'll find there's two parts, the light assembly and the ground spike. You'll note that the arrangement of the LEDs doesn't look quite like my picture, the stems are perfectly straight emerging from the base, more like a bouquet than an actual plant. These are powered with a single NImH rechargeable battery connected to a small PCB where the solar wafer supplies the input voltage. 1. The stems themselves are sleeved by a thin jacket, vinyl or somesuch. There's a wire inside for rigid support along with the low voltage wires leading to the LED globes. If you intend to bend them as I did to fan them out into a realistic pattern, you need to be aware that the bundle is glued into the base and wrapped at the bottom to keep the structure intact. The globes altogether are quite top heavy for the construction. Do not pull on the stems to bend them or for any other reason. If you do, the entire bundle will work it's way up out of the base and wrapping, and it will be nearly impossible to get them back in. All the globes will drop down to the ground. Instead, bend the stems by holding the bottom of the stem with one hand, and working the stem to a curve with the other to avoid pulling. Do this for each, working in a circle for the outer stems. Don't overdo it. If you do this carefully, you'll get your desired shape with the support structure intact. 2. The ground spike slides into the base using the exact same central opening that the wire passing from the solar assembly to the LEDs uses. If you try burying the fully assembled light into tough ground, or otherwise push down too hard, the top of the ground spike shaft will push up high enough and with enough force to completely sever the power cord leading to the lights. Now you're dealing with either a repair, or you're throwing the whole thing away. To avoid this, before actually sliding the base and spike together, get the spike buried to the desired depth first, and only then should you mount the base. If you need some help getting the spike into the ground, I recommend a wooden or rubber mallet. A hammer will risk deforming the top of the spike shaft. 3. Remove the protective cover from the solar wafer and actually turn on the switch to let them charge to full. Put them out in the morning to let them charge to full, obviously on a sunny day. They don't come fully charged, so the health of the battery will be best served by a full charge before it has to discharge. Follow this and you'll have a good setup experience. Otherwise you'll learn the hard way as you can probably tell I did. Because of all these requirements, I'm giving these four stars. Pictured is one of these lights in action. The larger globes stand out well, and you get a lot of LEDs per light. The crystalline acrylic adds a lot to the effect, and they fit in very well with other warm color temperature garden lights.

This set of solar lights works as intended, charging easily during the day, and creating a nice, almost magical ambiance in the garden at night. The light bulbs are a bit larger than what you might see on an average light products of this kind. That creates a little problem if your soil is on the softer side. The weight of the bulbs makes the thin stake topple off to the side very easily. Maybe making the anchor part of the stake would solve the issue. Other than that, I found the lights to be waterproof, weatherproof, and easy to adjust, to create the swaying effect. You do have the choice of either steady or flashing light. Overall, I'm happy with this addition to my garden.

This two-pack of lights came in a box that was damaged. Fortunately, the contents of the box was fine, although there was no packing material or anything so if the damage had been more severe, they could have been. The globes on these lights are smaller than I expected, but still fun. The arms of the lights are NOT semi-rigid like I expected them to be. You cannot position them and then have them stay where you put them. They just sort of flop around. So if you're able to put them in a bush or shrub and splay them out using the branches, they'll work like in the product photos, but if you have them freestanding like in my photos, they'll all sort of just point generally up and bounce back if you try to push them down. I've had them out in the yard for more than a week now, and I will say that they come on when it gets dark and they stay lit ALL night, turning off when the sun comes up. I was really surprised about that because often you see solar decorations like these that only stay on for a few hours, but these ones absolutely stay on for the duration. That's pretty cool. I wish the arms were semi-rigid, but all in all these are a fun little bit of garden decor, and I'm definitely going to enjoy having them in my garden.

This is our second set of firefly lights, each from a different vendor. This set from Reylax has some good features and some issues, resulting in a decent purchase choice. First, the positives: 1. This 2-pack set of lights follows the same dimension, length, and light cast of many competitors. 2. Some competitors feature 8 lights per set; this pack features 12 lights per set, a bonus. 3. Some vendor units feature only on and off; these lights feature on, off, and intermittent options. The issues we encountered deal with flexibility. While the advertising states that these lights will sway gently in the wind, this was not our experience. The shafts of each light are fairly rigid. We tried to fan out the individual stems, but the plastic of the stems is not very flexible. Thus, the effect is simply a close clump of lights, when most folks might prefer a loose bouquet look. Perhaps in time, the sun's heat will cause the stems to loosen a bit and become more pliable. The final issue is with the tiny solar panel. It only opens out or closes up to the stem bunch. It does not swivel or articulate, so you are not able to fully direct it towards the sun. These are not deal-breaker issues, just realities. Overall, the firefly light sets are well-made and cast a sufficient amount of light. While ordered at a much higher price point, the seller is now featuring a 50% discount coupon, which makes them an attractive buy.
